Yeah it is history that has shamefully been covered up for 9 decades, I have a 1971 encyclopedia about WV's history and only says in a paragraph "Labor strife occured 1912-21 with the Army dispatched 4 times in mining territory" and was never specific about it. Hatfield's shootout in Matewan as well as his murder in Welch were on page 1 of the NYT at the time and the "Battle of Blair Mountain" was the biggest news story in the US when it occured. I was a grownup when I learned about this history.

Whether violent or not this stuff needs to be out there and not silenced.

I was thinking about buying the land where my birth home sat. Having a tour daily of that spot. Got to War, head up toward Warrior but go slow, at the third bridge from Main just head up to the left up the mountain called William Pokey Hill go as far as the car can go however a ATV can go on around. YOU will see a large cliff like rock. I was born about 20 feet from that rock on the side of the hill. Stand there for a moment of silence of all those who made that area a better place to live.

A new study has demonstrated that plants can use an underground network of fungi to warn each other about incoming insect attacks.
