Unfortunately, the Constitutional Law Professor has chosen to ignore the constitution on several occasions.

Yes he has, and I suspect he will do it again if the Republicans continue to hold the country hostage. I have read several articles that suggest he likely will forgo Congress and pay our bills anyway if they fail to raise the debt limit. Of course some Constitutional lawyers say he can do it legally, others say he cant. Even if the courts later say he didnt have the power, whats done is done. Republicans can not sacrifice the economy and permanent credit of the US for a political agenda and expect him to sit back and do nothing. A president that truly has Americas best interest in mind would do what he has to do to pay our bills and save our economy from permanent damage.

So George, why don't we just go to a one party socialist system?

Because our democratic republic is a much better system.

One thing to point out is that raising the debt ceiling is to pay for previous debt agreed to by BOTH parties. It is unacceptable that after entering into a binding contract, one side then later makes previously undeclared demands to fullfil their part of that agreed upon contract. That is what the Republicans are trying to do. The Republicans have every right to demand cuts in whatever they want, but they dont have the right to ignore their agreed upon liabilities in making those demands.

It's not democratic if the president has the authority to do what you stated he will do. That means we have a dictator and chief.

Then raise the debt limit for one year but don't pass any continuing resolutions and don't pay a damn thing from here on out. How does that work for you moron. I have to get paid first before I can pay any bills dip shit. Congress needs to stop any tax revenue from coming into the government then tell the president to pay his bills he creates on a daily basis. F/U you idiot. You sound like a damn liberal yourself.

He has done it before and no one did anything. This is what happens when you ignore abuses of power, they snowball. Maybe if something was done about his previous Constitutional violations they would stop. I dont know if his paying our bills is unconsitutional or not but of all the things he has done, this is one I really dont care about(if he does it). All you complainers should have spoken out when he was abusing his powers by illegally spying on us, or giving illegal aid to Egpyt, or, or, or. Reminds me of the old they came for the communist story, they came for the communists but i didnt speak up because I wasnt communist. Look it up if you dont know it.

What should be done is they raise the debt limit now and then pass a bill saying they will not raise the limit in the future higher than what covers all current obligations. Unlikely they could get that bill to pass though. If it does then both sides sit down and compromise.

The debt ceiling must be raised now and in the future to cover all current obligations, but that doesnt mean they cant stipulate that it will not be raised any higher than that unless compromises are made.

If Republicans are so concerned about spending too much, why did they just pass a bloated farm welfare bill giving themselves millions? They want cuts, just not cuts to anything they like.

Not true. Joe has done everything he said he would do before he got elected. Nothing more, nothing less. He is a man of his word and has West Virginians best interest in mind when he takes a stance. I think I have agreed with Manchin on every position on every issue he has taken.
