I was thinking "Payberry, 50 Years and 50 Bridle Shops"

Thanks Frank for this fun story.

I grew up in Rosemead and seem to remember Temple City claiming to be "Home of the Camellia's". It's a nice flower to look at but not very useful otherwise.
I vote for this one. It's absolutely perfect!! Bingo! |

Frank Girardot has a weird obsession with characterizing Temple City as "Mayberry."
He's done it 2 or 3 times in the recent past. Perhaps when Frank watches re-runs of "The Andy Griffith Show," he "sees" 50 bridal shops lined up and down Mayberry's fictional Main Street. Ha, ha, ha. A couple weeks ago, Frank wrote a bizarre column where he fantasized that if South El Monte had initially been named "Santa Anita" rather than "South El Monte," it might have turned out to be a quaint little town with manicured lawns, better schools, and a paradisical ambience. Sounds like Frank is looking for an escape from the realities of the Democratic tax & spend paradise of Southern California. In fact, so are many productive citizens of our state---that's why they're FLEEING California for states which are not so punitive toward productivity, investment, and entrepreneurship. |

A good theme would be, 'Honest Government Now', or 'No More Corruption'.

Shockingly, Temple City has not yet sent itself a brochure on this pressing issue.
New administration M.O. involves cloud sourcing as many city job functions as possible. They left code violations reporting to the citizens and look for public commentors in council meets to air the dirty laundry elected reps fear to touch. Now they want a slogan generated by the public too. Do they cash their paychecks? Next they will have us turning the pages in their Avon catalogs for them. |
Ya'll need to stop focusing on the negative and start looking at the positive. The city is clearly looking to get the community involved. Wasn't Thumper's mom who said "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." GROW up and move on!!

Muy Stupido! |

Wow, finally someone with some common sense that can see Temple City is finally making changes for the better! New teen center is a positive thing here for the youth. Now a new city manager to keep us moving forward and a hell of a lot better City Council that is on the move. Things take time and the voters who didn't care for 20 plus years cn't have a quick fix. Give this Council some time; they are moving this city forward. |
Bedazzled, you are just that if you think Temple City is moving forward. I tried to reach our new city manager three days last week and he was not in the office. Must have quickly realized what he is up against and it has already made him sick. Good pick council. I hear the new teen center is going to be used mostly by recreation leaders with no real supervision to speak of. Get ready for more parties until 3 am. Well maybe our kids are following the good example of this wonderful council who party’s every chance they get, like in palm springs and at all the conferences they attend or even here in town. So what, let the them party, after all it won’t be your child that gets fired the next time those unsupervised kids are found breaking into city property and drinking til 3 am. Come to think of it weren’t two of the kids that did not get fired the son or daughter of one of the wonderful councilpeople and a commissioner? My child was not that lucky or well connected. Maybe I should have run for council or filled in an application for the parks commission. I invite everyone on these blogs to look into this information. The real truth will deliver you from your Bedazzled state, that is unless Bedazzled is a councilperson in which case it must be the one whose head is so buried in research that he is oblivious to what is going on around him. That would explain all the council supportive entries by this bewildered person.

Above post very distressing. Could have been written many times over the last several years.
Cliques, cronyism and favoritism are a few troubling aspects of TC administrations past. We hope. Yet these are not the worst, the worst is corruption in office. That would be Judy Wong. When the present council votes "no confidence" on Wong and asks her to resign (whether she does or no) we can start to take our progress movement seriously. And parents like the one above will not have their kids treated unfairly. |
"son or daughter of one of the wonderful councilpeople.."
Lets see...Wong, Vizcarra,Yu, and Chavez all have grown kids. Sternquist has one grown child and one teenage son. Are you alleging that Sternquist's teenage son, who goes to a private school out of the city, was involved? No one even knows the young man, as his life is all out of town. Stop the whispering... |
I do believe that there were two chilren that left the so called party and did not drink like the rec leaders that all got fired. Good for them for having good judgement. The only thing that was unfair was that older young adults had no respect for their jobs or the younger workers under their care. They should have been fired! |
So the whispering was all BS. You alleged that councilmembers or parks and rec commisioners were involved--all lies.
The person in charge of the rec leaders should be fired too.
Who would that be? Oh yes. Burroughs. Someone is going to be very seriously injured or worse and it is going to be Burroughs' fault. The official disconnect and excuses are a dangerous combo. |
I think this guy has it in for Burroughs. If you notice any TC blog with his name goes back about his dislike for Burroghs and the Park and Rec leaders. I think he was probabably one of the ones let go by the ciy. Move on Sir! |
