Gary's Comapny, Athens Services had piled on thousands of dollars to local city campaigns to keep their PAID city council men and women in place to protect there SPECIAL CONTACTS they have with several cities.

A $30 million discrimination lawsuit was filed against the city in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday on behalf of 13 Montebello police officers.

The lawsuit alleges backroom deals and political alliances furthered the careers of some police officers while adversely affecting others.

The lawsuit, filed by a Montebello citizen, is scheduled to be heard in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.

And a 15-year exclusive contract to haul all the garbage in the city, awarded to Athens Services in July 2008, spurred a lawsuit and recall election of council members Robert Urteaga and Kathy Salazar.

That recall will likely come in February.

For Tuesday's election, campaign coffers swelled to $389,000 between the nine candidates, as Athens Services spent a good portion of the $548,000 it raised to protect its contract.
