But first the superintendents are working toward a shared protocol for handling the transfers, which were upheld last week by the Missouri Supreme Court.

A few weeks ago on the Jaco report, they intereviewed some experts. They all said this is going to be a big problem all the way around. Not to even mention the overcrowding of the destination school districts - the Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts are going to end up going bankrupt becaues of the high costs associated with transporting these students plus the tuition they'll have to pay the destination school districts. What would have better served them would have been a consultant who could come in and teach the administration at the unaccredited districts how to run their "business" in a sound fiscal manner and help them work toward getting their accreditation back. What happens when the Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts have no more money to pay for the transportation/tuition and there is no more money for their students who stayed in their district?

I also understand the parents in the destination districts being mad. They pay taxes for that good education and school district while these parents from Normandy and RG pay much less but are getting the benefits of the destination district's tax dollars at work. I have not heard a formal announcement but I am sure RG will choose Hazelwood School District as it's choice and as a Hazelwood School District parent, this angers me as well. Our schools are already overcrowded.(My daughter had to sit on the floor of her classroom a few years back at Central because they didn't have enough chairs. And had to check out text books to do home work because they didn't have enough textbooks to go around either. And we are getting MORE students???

Bad move all the way around.

DESE reports indicate that HSD has about 2000 "homeless" students, which is about 10 percent of the student body.

From my observations during my days as a parent in the district, maybe about that many students "borrow" the addresses of relatives and others to attend the district's schools.

My guess is that maybe a total of 20 percent or so of the total student body of HSD are not official residents.

So, in effect, a large number of folks have already been availing themselves of your tax dollars and child's educational resources.

Maybe this will wake some people up and some good will come out of it.

TTU, yes I know this. My son is always talking about other students who "don't live around here". I know years and years ago when I went to Hazelwood schools, there were a few - no proof was asked for back then. But as they realized it was going on, more proof and even "house checks" were supposedly implemented, so the only thing I can figure out is that they are now just looking the other way in the interest of being politically correct.(and side note - IMO, political correctness has gotten so far out of hand in this country that what was once "politeness", has now become almost the opposite of "doing the right thing"...

I think new federal laws regarding "homeless" kids kicked in and a lot of mommas took advantage of that to enroll the kids in HSD and FFSD, and the districts just gave up. The districts saw a lot of federal cash out there for urban educational initiatives and school safety and thus were kind of bought off. Also, the StLouis Pub Schools were unaccredited, and there was an exodus to HSD, which in turn, triggered an exodus of whites to St Charles County.

All greased with minority mortgage programs, cheap gas, and McMansions with easy mortgages---until it all stopped in 2008, and now we have the present mess.

The ticking time bomb though is HSD's accreditation status. If it loses that, as I believe is inevitable, it will trigger massive transfers, including likely thousands of presently home schooled and private school kids. If and when that occurs, if the present law is still in effect, that will pretty much sink the HSD boat.

Some inner city kids really do want more out of life. I was one of them. Now I can say I now live and pay taxes in chesterfield., and my children now attend the parkway school district... so please ladies and gentlemen, it is very hard to do at times, but don't stereo all city kids.. a lot of them want more out of life, but are at a disadvantage because of the choices their parents and grand parents made. If the city (poverty),is all they know, then poverty is all that will show in the majority of these cases. Please pray for them all.

the schools in the city are open to those that want to learn. city kids are not at a disadvantage, go to school and pay attention. those were all nice schools until the blacks took them over, once the blacks get in control of the schools they rob the tills, so i hope they all stay where they are at and don't come out to the schools in the county and poison them.

"retard"? "little man"? You are such a dope. When will YOU stop hiding behind the name "hardhead"? All you can do is anonymously post your vile and hateful trash like a coward? You have managed to turn this message board into some sort of immature high school argument. That is definitely something you, as a white person have done. You act like an arrogant idiot and think you are so much better than everyone else, while you actually just sit around trying to drag everyone down to your own moronic level.

Maybe he will if you start using your own name. Since you have stated you are afraid to post your real name then you have no grounds for criticizing anyone else.

Anyway, people can tell which one of you is which just by the content of the post.

they can't ,because whites buildt america and the negros have done nothing but tear in done as fast as we build it. we worked on some projects where it was a one man job, but had to have two, so one guy could stay with the truck so as it wouldn't be emptied out. i'v seen pluming installed only to come back the next day to find it all tore out. put air con. in schools only to see them tear out $100 worth of copper and destroy a millon dollar chiller. these people are stupid, plain and simple. that's why i say i would not give them a dame thing, they could fuk up an anvil. my .02 cents wether you like it or not as i don't really care what anyone thinks.

got off topic alittle, i hope the schools that this is being forced on are ready to lose their accreditation. more tax dollars down the drain, because of the blacks. you don't see this happening in the white schools now do you. you gotta be blind not to see this.

Remember, it was this President who said,

You didn't built that, somone else did.

Shame on the elected representatives and the courts who have determined, the only way to fix something bad is to destroy all the other good. Then every thing has found its new low level.

Day is done, when it's all gone.

I know this is an older post, but I felt compelled to respond...
All I can say is, wow! I've never seen such ignorant and simple-mindedness as I have here from hardhead and some others here.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. It's people like you that keep St. Louis from progressing. I will say this, I, without a doubt, would never live in St. Charles because of people like you that I have encountered out there. There are intelligent people who live there who are not ignorant, obviously, but there are way too many people like you who spread such filth and hate. I would never allow my sons to be around people like you.
I am a well-educated white man who came from working class parents. I paid my way through college and law school on my own. Before I moved to St. Louis and attended SLUH, I went to inner-city public schools in New York. I, as a white person, was the minority. There are good people and not-so-good people, regardless of skin color or where they happen to live.
All children should be given a chance to make something of themselves. That comes from opportunity, support, and determination. I've seen many black kids with determination who don't have opportunity and support; conversely, I've seen even more white kids who have opportunity and support, but no determination. I'd much rather have the former in my child's school.
As a metropolitan area, we need to get past the segregation and color lines and make real progress. I agree that resources should be used to fix a problem internally rather than busing students away from it, but until that happens, I'll never turn down the chance to give a child an opportunity for a good education.
Oh, and white people have ruined many, many things: native cultures and the environment come to mind immediately; and also true progress for our great city due to the same hateful, small-minded concepts expressed on this topic.
Grow up and get a life!
