The Whistle Stop does NOT get pre breaded chicken in, it is all breaded when it is ordered, and the foods are all the same quality and brands they have been for the past 20 years. Come watch the cooks btread the chicken and check out the brands and prices.

Just dont eat the 20 dollar buffet upstairs, cost us nearly 40 dollars and it was really horible, service was ok but the food wasnt...much better downstairs...I should have not paid for it or made a commotion but here is where I get my revenge, word of mouth and i know alot of people.

Well, here's the funny thing. It might have been HORRIBLE, but if you don't even know how to spell the word, I ask would you even know what horrible was? LOL! Why don't you just say, I would recommend eating downstairs and not having the buffet?

I used to love going there. Not so much anymore. My husband and I call the house salad the ever shrinking salad. The menu keeps changing ( took away the famous L & N burger) portion sizes are getting smaller. They do seem to be using more Sysco Foods heat and eat stuff. The cuts of meat are lower quality with the 2nd owners. The Iron House used to be my favorite place to eat in Hardin Co. Loved taking out of town guest there. Miss all the options and my favorites (spinach soup, omg yum). But at least they are using plastic table cloths and paper napkins ... Classy! Really wished the Sego's could have kept the business in the family... What is missing is the passion & love of cooking.

The restrooms are small and smell like sour urine. Owners not very friendly. Small framed older lady (not sure if she still works there) hostess comes across as snobby.

The food there is great and the place is very cute, but our waitress was very loud and rude to us the other day when we ate there. Rude enough that we won't be going back, unfortunatly.
Was it the old black lady by any chance?

Well here it is guys the truth about the whistle stop. All of the supplies are from sysco. They treat everyone who has been there for more then like 6 years like gold. Anyone who has been there for less then 3 years gets treated like crap. The rules they have set in place now are a bunch of crap, last time i checked it was illegal to tell people what they can talk about. They can not keep any of the employees because whats the golden rule everyone??? well the only reason they have head waitress or kitchen manager is so they have someone to bitch at when they think something is wrong. i understand that technically they are the ones who need to fix it, but you also have to understand that there is no positive reinforcement in that place. even if someone goes beyond what they are asked.
As far as the food goes, dont get me wrong there are some pretty damn good things to eat there. But yes you are right when a lot of things are heat and serve. The green beans are cooked from the can juice and that is just gross. the only reason i know this is well we will keep it a secret. Anyway some of the things are good but some of the things are "well lets just add some lard and salt and see what we come up with." last time i checked that was not good cooking.

Using the word CRAP is not very proper. Where might I find where an employer cannot set standards such as 'what we talk about.' Yes, I can also understand why some have no discernment about their blabbing among other employees or customers. Wonder if we ever saw you there WHEN you were there??? Hmmm

I have been disappointed in the food being served at the Whistle Stop. It was my very favorite place to eat for many years. At first the food was pretty much the same but now everything is too salty or comes in frozen. Gone from the menu are a lot of the cooked from scratch items. I used to enjoy the chicken salad fruit plate that Idell served. Now the fruit is nasty - gone is the wonderful dressing Idell used on the fruit and the chicken salad has way too much mayonnaise. I asked for a piece of bread with my meal at lunch and was told they were not longer serving rolls for lunch. Obviously, rolls take too long to prepare. If I want fast food I will go to a fast food restaurant. Why do people try to change a wonderful restaurant??? Obviously, their business is much slower than when the original owners were there. Seems to me a good business person would stick with what has made the restaurant famous.

1. most places you work at set a standard that you can not talk about what you make per hour or salary or sexual harassment or whatever. That is understandable. Telling people that they can not talk about "personal things" at work is stupid.

2. It does not matter if you saw me there or not. Just because i know some things about it does not mean i am pulling this stuff out of my A##. If you have to know i am friends with some ex employees.

Quite the contrary. I know a person who was fired for talking about her personal life in the business where she was employed. Young, are you?

Tony Yorks is very good. Fresh food that is served hot. People are very nice. They have a nice menu and do brunch on the weekends. I get the fried chicken breast. It comes with smashed potatoes, green beans and roll. I can never finish it all :)
