Does SGV have 20% of LA County's jobs? I don't think so. You got downtown & the Westside with a much higher %age of jobs, with no reasonable means of mass transit. What does the SGV have? You have the Gold Line to Pasadena and Metrolink. Westside has nothing. Who really has the "fair share" you laud about? I'm sure there's tons of SGV residents who would gladly take the future Purple Line to the sea, or continue on the downtown connector into the Westside, Culver City, and Long Beach...
We need the full county's support! Please support the sales tax measure! |

Mixed feelings about this idea of increasing the number of board members. Brings to mind FDR's attempt to "stack" the Supreme Court in his favor by expanding beyond 9 justices. On the other hand, SGV is unfairly underrepresented; we just don't seem to have the political clout of the Westsiders, and that's the real problem to be solved.
Oh, by the way ... for gosh sakes do NOT support any increase in sales tax, for any purpose. Our taxes in California are more than high enough, and raising them will not solve any problems. |

The SGV needs good public transit. Look at how crowded the 210, 10, and 60 get at rush hour. If the SGV got its fair share of the mass transit money, I could vote for the sales tax. But as it is, it'll be my money paying for someone else's benefits. Once the money is committed there, it'll be decades before I see any MTA even considers funding projects in the SGV. And when it does, you can bet that Westsiders won't support it because it won't benefit them.

1 No more taxes, end of discussion. Traffic in all of LA is a mess and all I see is politics over money and nothing being done for the taxpaying citizens that have to drive the roads. If the Westside wants more rail, why don't we sell the MTA building, put all the cubicle hacks in low rent offices, and spend that money on rail for the whole region. As for buses, no more. All they do is clog up the roads and suck money from those who pay into the system, not those that whine that their taxpayer subsidized ride is going up a dollar a day. I have absolutely had it. |
