Azusa gives raise, bonus to city manager

Full story: San Gabriel Valley Tribune

The City Council on Tuesday approved a $10,000 raise for its top administrator. Fran Delach, Azusa's city manager since 2005, was given a 5 percent raise and a 5 percent bonus through a unanimous council decision at Tuesday's meeting.

Leave it to the Azusa city council to waste the taxpayers money starting with the incompetent Uriel Macias who say Delach is do a raise. We don't have a supermarket, no Block 36 ( the dirt lot) the Rosedale is a failure,we have lost businesses and no retailer wants to come to Azusa except the ghetto store Target. This is why Azusa is where it is today because there is no one minding the store, they are giving it away.

These cities/counties/state still do not get it. All public employees are overpaid for what they do. They keep giving raises while the private sector has to cut back. And let's not forget the big fat pensions!!

That is $125,000.00 more than a city manager should be making. This is why our taxes are so high in California.

Is it prudent to give a raise of more than, including a bonus,$20,000 when the ecomomy at present is in the state it is? If a raise is warrant be reasonable and accept what is appropriate and acceptable for these times of depression. After the depression if Azusa decides to raise the wages then do it. Not now.

Fact !!...as city manager it's his job to bring in businesses, his success should be measure on tangible end of fact results, not anticipate revenue. Another hit on productive Azusan tax payers, have to subsidise the poor, dumb, ignorant electorate who voted for the last bash of low lives into the city council. Next time Azusans get involve and elect the candidates with real successful business experience, and only then will things really improve in Azusa.

Why not give raises to all the other employees who helped bring in the businesses as well. Thank the Planning, Finance, and other departments, not the City Manager. That guy only follows department head recommendations. City Councils are obviously oblivious to the work city departments do.

This happen every year. The police cheif making 300,000 a year because he claim others are making that much. City manager and council making a lot of money every year because *gasp* other council are making that much. Not all cities are the same and Azausa is one of the crappiest cities in socal next to el monte.

The one footing the bill is always the resident, private sector and tax payer.

Azusa can't attract a supermarket let alone a Bloomingdales because the city has a reputation for being a "GHETTO" city , this is why they can only attract the cheap stores like 99 cents stores, Big Lots and the ghetto Target stores.

No the worst city is La Puente--they just allowed some more marijuana clinics but started cracking down on illegal shopping cart street vendors (after letting it go for years). Name me a decent shopping area out there! And PH Mall doesn't count as it is Industry/Hacienda Hts/Rowland Hts--a lot of stores are in City of Industry or West Covina, but not LP. Does anyone make downtown LP a shopping destination? No, most people pass it by on Valley Blvd.

Sounds like a few bitter people bashing Azusa that don't even live here. I love my city. It's far yet close from all the hustle and bustle. Theatre, fresh n easy, universities, community, the san gabriels, volunteerism, and much more.
Wasted Money sounds like he's wasting his time complaining. Put some action behind those words or shut up! LOL
