My suspicion-and I say this as a Certified Feng Shui Professional AND a resident of Lyon County-is that there is a tremendous surge of geopathic stress in this region. Geopathic stress is basically energy that is better to be avoided and certainly one must understand its nature, sources and how to protect oneself and community from its ill effects. More specifically, this section of the highway is mainly straight rather than meandering, so the energies flowing, even as the traffic flows, tends to increase the same way vehicles pick up speed. The generations of mining and disturbing the earth, the use of exceptionally toxic chemicals in local industries, classic Nevada gambling and prostitution businesses that evoke negative emotions of all variety, and perhaps more than a few unsettled spirits of murdered folks from the Comstock days 'til now may still be floating around-all these contribute to and increase the geopathic stress and negative vibes in the region. These along with whatever emotional, mental, and physical "vibes" of residents and visitors alike combine into a river of energy that gives us what we have and no cement wall will cure this. A powerful remedy is called for here, we must pacify the ghosts and disperse the negative energies that have obviously accumulated and increase exponentially with all the classic remedies that currently are failing us. Start with a prayer to your favorite angel or being of the highest order, meditate or think voo doo if that works for you, as long as it is with intent to find an appropriate and positive (win/win) solution. My suggestion is that all of us in Northern Nevada join in to support a beautification and renovation project that will be so pleasant to behold and will also bring prosperity to every person living or visiting or traveling through our area. Perhaps it is time to envision a public transport system, say a modern train system that will connect us the way the railroads of former eras connected widespread communities. From Tahoe to Fallon and beyond. Maybe we can ask if various religious congregations, service clubs, heck even Star Trekkies or Motorcycle Clubs might like to adopt, bless, and beautify various sections of the road. Point is, this issue needs outside the box brainstorming and perhaps lower and consistent speed limits too. "No problem exists in isolation, we must first reduce it to its basic components, then tackle each component in turn." John LeCarre
