The world is flat. Why are you so afraid of overseas firms? If we build walls in this country we will ALL be left behind. Protectionism will get us no-where.

If it is going to keep the park in operation who cares who the owners are. Don't be so ignorant.

Who cares about the overseas owners? They appear responsible and full of cash. Compounce has turned into just a terrific park for the family and I, for one, look forward to them continuing to grow as the anti-Six Flags.

They won't gro as the anti-Six Flags if they're owned by a huge corporation, they'll become just as bad. What made Lake Compounce different was the fact that it was small and independent and didn't have to answer to shareholders (or fund managers). I can't see how they can remain the same when they're just one park of dozens instead of one in 5 like they were with Kennywood.

And Storyland too! Both these parks have been traditional family-owned bright spots in an increasingly homogenized world. Lets hope the new (again) owners appreciate what is unique here and go with it. In my heart, I'm afraid that ain't gonna happen.

This sale is due in part to the low value of the U.S. dollar overseas. Another example of a major purchase was T.D. Bank North gobbling up several banks in the Mid-Atlantic region.

You would not be saying this if you worked there when it is opened with hourly pay being over just over minimum wage and no benefits.

WOW you were around over a hundred years ago to experience that? Was there a minimum wage then? Either way, there are bigger more important issues than who owns Lake Compounce. Management seems assured with the plans and I'm sure they know more than anyone reading this story.
