Full story: Estes Park Trail-Gazette

Estes Park residents could be facing a big dilemma this spring as a result of two separate actions that will likely take place in the next two weeks.

Lets say that both issues fail---in theory, . voters vote against the conservation easement, and voters also vote against the sale of lot 4. And are we voting on the contract, as this editorial states, or are we voting on the sale of lot 4, two different. Be careful people. Already the wording is getting twisted around. Read and understand before you vote.

Don't buy the hype or the slanted editorials from the "progressives" trying to take over Estes. READ THE FINE PRINT!! There are already, plenty of wellness venues across the state, particularly in other, overdeveloped resort areas (that, by the way, were once small and quiet hamlets too). For those of you who have made EP your home because it's quaint, quiet, and overall, peaceful...this has all the potential to strip away the small village charm that makes Estes Park a highly desired vacation resort. Bigger is NOT always better.. Get creative and find ways to maximize the high season so residents of EP can relax and have their community back at some point. It doesn't need to be tourists 24/7/365.

Your romantic notion that Estes Park is a hamlet or village (see definition) is silly. Estes Park is a town with with full governmental services. Tourists come thru Estes Park on their way to Rocky Mountain Park. They stay in our hotels and motels which collect taxes that support our town. Let's not delude ourselves in thinking the tee shirt stores is the attraction they come for. Adding other amenities such as a Wellness Center will attract more people and create another reason to come to the town. Let's stop thinking we are a Mayberry-it doesn't exist!
