A full scale ad campaign by the Chamber in Estes Park with enticing discounts for those who come early and stay late would seem to be a help. Surprised that it hasn't happened already.

Except that Estes Park doesn't have a Chamber of Commerce, and it is not clear how attracting a bunch of skinflints and bargain hunters would help boost the economy. They will only buy one "Mountain Strong" T-shirt at best, or maybe a couple of defective ones, provided they are discounted, and they will only eat day-old cinammon rolls.

Are you Mountain Strong, Lee? You all down in Allenpark need to get strong or go back into your caves.

boy , its great to see what estes residents think of "us tourists" . you might think twice what you write on here, people are watching and you town is greatly or totally supported by tourists. I for one will be back asap but some will take this as we don't need your cheap ass back here.

If you are wealthy and spend lots of money on trivial things we need you here badly. If you are cheap and only come up when hotels are offering discounts you can stay at home. We needs thousands of dollars at each grab, not 10 cents at each grab. Savvy, kemosabe?

Estes Park - We don't want to be like Aspen or Vail, except for the part where you waste a bunch of money on us that you would spend at Aspen or Vail for real entertainment and real luxury food and lodging.

WOW ! are you the head of the welcoming committee ?
what a stupid thing to say in a time of need for the whole town. I for one have been coming to estes since the early '70's and don't come in discount season, so we do spend quite a bit of money, but rest assured we might rethink doing it again since we know how you feel, kemosabe .

Don't expect US36 to be supporting tourist traffic until well into 2014. While a temporary fix is in the works, it really won't be much more than an access road for local residents and essential truck traffic. US34 is unlikely to be a functional route from Loveland to Estes until 2015 given the heavy damage taken.

What a crock. If you really loved spending money in Estes Park, you would already be living here.

Please write a check right now to the recovery efforts with at least 6 zeros at the end, and a number other than zero in the front.

At that point, we will be best friends.

But stop arguing this point. We need lots of money from a few people, not a bit of money from a bunch of whiney complainers and cheap skates that won't shut up, like you, obviously

This is why our Internet Service Provider is in Golden.

I'm confused, are you being invited to Estes Park or to Golden.

I love how an anonymous idiot from Golden speaks for Estes Park and acts like Todd from Kansas has no criminal record and is completely herpes-free, as if he would know such a thing or is so trusting based on his friend the internet. Our Golden friend would invite the Son of Sam and Idi Amin up to Estes Park. Thanks, Golden. May the fleas of a thousand camels come up to your town after a gigantic flood and spend $4 on a Starbucks coffee. That would certainly bail everyone out here and restore our toilets and be worthy of great praise.

Idiot.

Ha ha that is funny Sueboygan. As if there was one world and one tourist. Sorry, there are millions of tourists, 3 million alone trampled our soil last summer alone. So your lone voice complaining means absolutely nothing to us, you are completely replaceable with someone with actual money, not money taken from board games. You probably bring your own tent anyway and eat rabbit jerky or whatever you raise up in in bumfackWisky on sin.
Go jerk your dog, cheese whiz.

TO all the wonderful people who choose to visit Estes each year, I would like to say thank you. What these small minded people dont seem to understand is every penny counts. In this time of turmoil, any and all help should be appreciated and thanked.
Please do not hold these selfish people's comments against the town and understand that the majority would say thank you very much for any attention you can bring to this tragedy.
Signed, grew up, married, had children, and still come home every year, from Estes and still consider it home!!

If 1000 people come up right now and spend a few cents, they will end up doing more damage to fragile Estes Park than if one person comes up and spends $1000.

This isn't complicated - Estes Park is teetering on the brink, and those who somehow make themselves feel better by clicking "donate $10" on a Red Cross website are deluding themselves.

Move up here and buy a home. Post from an Estes Park ISP to prove you are a true believer. But stop encouraging tightwads to roll into town, buy a churro, and think they are solving all our problems. You, and them, are making it worse.

We need rich people to rescue us, not an influx of deluded, self-righteous poor people.
