Rocky Mountain National Park is fully open this is in a very remote area of the park that sees little use. The town of Glen Haven is definitely in the path of some trouble though.

Wow! Deploying smoke jumpers to fight a fire with the nearest avenue for assistance, a road, seven miles away. Now that's courage! Be careful guys!

It was only a matter of time. Instead of catering to tourists, the gov't should have been addressing this problem.

You sorry son of a b____!! Give me the names of the "illegal immigrants" lighting fires and the names of the Legals starting fires! Let's see how many fires are started by legals and illegals. I heard it was Mother Nature that started that fire. Is she illegal? Learn how to spell moron!!!

When we were growing up as kids we used to purchase permits and go into that area and many others designated as "USFS tree thinning" and sporadically cut designated trees for use as firewood.
This was a very inexpensive, solution to maintaining forest health preventing beetle kill, as well as overgrown forests just waiting for the next positive lightning strike.

Well, over the years as the "green" movement has grown and all of those healthy maintained forests are now designated "Wilderness Areas", thus public use is against the law, no motor vehicles, bicycles, horses, or forest management thus wildfire and destruction waiting to and is happening.

Just take a current panoramic view around Grand County and tell me how this "off limits" has worked out?

I put these volunteer firefighters in the same category as some of our brave military who are fighting battles that sometimes are the direct result of Government blunder.

Thank You to all of them!
