putting together the database?

According to Larimer County Assessors records, the Town owns 120 parcels. Some of these are deeded streets and the like, but still, there Eighteen parcels are 5 acres or larger. The 18 hole Golf Course (town property) is the largest at 181 acres.

The Town owns the "open space' at the Reserve (a.k.a.'Willieville', after the developer who destroyed Storer Ranch)- three parcels totaling over 30 undeveloped acres. The town owns all the undeveloped land north of Scott Ave.(another 11 acres) and also owns the ponds north of Carriage Dr.(25 acres). Not to mention the 75 acres parcel at the end of Fish Hatchery Rd.

Good attempt by the ARD, but the horses were let out of the barn years ago, when all the public input about the need to preserve existing open space, keep larger lot sizes and build fewer condos were ignored when the Estes Valley Comprehensive Plan was adopted. That "plan" was the result of the town and county bowing to property rights activists, led by Bill Van Horn and others who were to become (not surprisingly) mayors and town trustees. It is and was all about the money.......

Sorry about that first paragraph - it appears I channeled the poor writing style and technique of Juley Harvey!

Try this fix to replace my first paragraph above:

The town does not own

Hermit Park. The town kicked in some cash to buy it, yes, but it belongs to Larimer County.

Also, Stanley Park (owned by the town) is 49 acres. I would think that the 9 hole golf course would qualify as open space, given all the elk on it for months of the year, but it is not town property. It is owned by the Bureau of Reclamation.
Very good

we do not need two Juley Harvey's. Have you seen her latest submissions re: teacher appreciation night and student achievement? I wish the Trail would publish corrections as most newspapers do...then the Trail would be 6 pages!
