All I see from the wellness center proposal is a 50 room (suites) expansion of Grand Heritage holdings. With amenities for upper crust clientele
What if Grand Heritage calls foul or otherwise disposes of EPMC? Then they own the lot 4 parcel outright....
Why should we trust the town lawyer's opinion that it will remain a Wellness Center?
After all , the town's lawyer sat in the covert executive session that sold lot 4 ,%40 under market value, with an approved development plan in place. Condos, if I recall correctly. We had to sue for the minutes to the secret session. That is why we now will vote on the sale of lot 4.
Would the town lawyer have the skills to litigate a breach of contract? In Dubai? Who would pick up the tab?

For the people that support a tax increase " because of recent tragedies". You must be newcomers or government supporters. Why do you think they have a " Rainy Day Fund?" This why they have millions in this for the last 20 or more years! For situations like this. If you need more money, maybe you should consider cutting the payroll and size of this small town government....employees 120, payroll of over $8.5 million. Look it up...public record.

Thank you Doc Berglund for bringing up one of the unpleasant truths about Lot 4 - it a neglected wind-swept piece of property, and it is INFESTED with invasive exotic weeds, the primary one being diffuse knapweed (Centaurea diffusa). Lot 4's biggest claim to fame as "wildlife habitat" is that it is home to a large population of Richardson's ground squirrels (Wyoming ground squirrels to some of you), and who can miss the signs of excavations as the badgers have dug the place up in order to eat the squirrels!
Elk habitat? Barely - they wander through and graze occasionally, but the grasses are sparse, at best. I'm waiting for the wildly fictitious claims of "elk calving ground" and "essential winter habitat" to be thrown about as they were for that lot on Hwy 7 across from Golf Course Rd.
I'm not for the Wellness Center - it seems like a snake oil deal if ever there was one. So I will vote against the sale. But I surely won't support the placement of this parcel into a conservation easement!

The comments in this edition by Greg Rosener who has been a paid lobbyist for John Cullen are as always demeaning to anyone who does not need a paycheck from Cullen. Some facts; the EPMC has not done a true economic analysis on the so-called wellness business, participation in "wellness programs" are not reimbursed by any insurance companies since it it not recognized as a real science or medical discipline, and Lot 4 is a valuable scenic piece of undeveloped land that contributes to view of the mountains from several vantage points. If Lot 4 is developed and John Cullen builds a bunch of large structures on his land, all of the sarcastic and paid off "citizens" of Estes Park will likely complain. It all depends how willing they are to sell our Town for private gain.

Amazing how all the negative comments come when you do not have to sign your name.

That's because as it stands now if you work at the hospital and disagree with the wellness center there's a very real chance you will lose your job.
Estes Park is turning into a Stepford community.
If the town government would have had any forethought in the past decades the town wouldn't be in this predicament. Look at Glenwood and other mountain communities that are thriving.......don't just ruin the vistas and throw precious money around in hopes of things working.
Please earn you ridiculously high salaries and research, work, and PLAN!!

Doesn't reason stand on it's own merit? I know and communicate with many on both sides of this lot 4 issue, and hope to be friends, or neighbors with them after this minor (in life's overview) debate.
I am not hiding my comments, but, reserving them for a proper place. Some people understand the honor of their position, others the gain, still others ; the virtue. I hope that nobody is hurt by a gainer that cares little, if any, for other peoples vulnerability.
This forum is one of the few that we may air out different opinions, safe from misconception. And, at times in a back and forth manner.
Reason carries it's own virtues and long term effects, and a sort of truth, no matter the venue or moniker.

Many famous authors used Pen Names. Benjamin Franklin was Poor Richard, Francis Arouet was Voltaire, Mark Twain alternated,etc...
This helped keep them out of Prison, and defrayed The Mobs malice.
Thank God we have the first amendment, indeed ; but we still have to face the blind reaction of those who perceive us as an enemy when we query their position. A simple answer instead of sophistry would suffice
John Cullen infers that we "don't get it" if we neglect to apply his lead. Why? is his fundamental ruling faculty beyond reproach? Is his ability to Judge intact? or does unfettered desire distort forethought?
How did we ever make it all these years without IMAX, Outlet Malls, or "Wilderness" centers where'd Elk would be penned?
I guarantee if The "Wellness Center" on lot 4 fails, we will still need more parking and road repair. And the Stanley will still charge $5 to get past their gate.
