Why would a story about the High Drive fire that has been extinguished for a year still be linked to this page? Could that not cause undue concern for prospective visitors to Estes if they did not read that the story originated on June 23rd of LAST year? Seems like a bad policy particularly with merchants needing the summer business.

are going up where small modest houses once stood. Obviously the insurance companies are paying out handsomely, even to those who did NOTHING to mitigate the fire danger around their houses.

Meanwhile, the insurance rates for ALL OF US have gone up this year, due to this fire and the Waldo Canyon and High Park fires. And wait until the Black Forest Fire losses hit the insurance system.

Maybe next time we hold a fund-raiser for fire 'victims', we donate the money to ourselves so we can pay our insurance bills. We need insurance reform - it's time for those who diligently create defensible space around our houses be charged less than those who refuse to trim a branch, cut a tree, rake pine needles, or clean their gutters or under their decks. Let's stop rewarding sloth!

I wonder if, while we're at it, we could penalize people who spend most of their day typing crap on message boards rather than doing something constructive for the good old U.S.o A.

Maybe you could spent all your time making defensible space around your body, because you stink something awful.
