Historic Glen Ellyn tavern won't become mall
Concerns that Glen Ellyn's historic Stacy's Tavern might be razed to make way for a strip mall appear to have been put at ease by an anonymous $200,000 donation.

We need a benefactor in Yorkville for another historical landmark that may be lost. The Kendall County Historical Society has intentions of selling the oldest church in the county (1855)to a private school. Currently, the church is called Chapel on the Green and has stored all of the county's historical documents and archives for genealogists. It's also a wedding chapel for many brides and grooms. Selling off landmarks seems to be a trend as budgets get tighter and tighter. I'm so happy for Glen Ellyn that they will keep their historic tavern. Historic Preservation is a sacred trust and not a way to make money. Everytime this practice is stopped, the citizens of the country benefit. Thanks to all who worked for this and to your benefactor.
