Supermarket security assaulted during attempted robbery

Two people allegedly stole items from a Vons supermarket in Rancho Cucamonga while a third person waited in the car.

I was just wondering what they did that constituted mayhem. That is a serious charge that usually means they disfigured someone. If they did that will most likely add five years to their sentence. They must have used a sharp instrument like a knife or box cutter and severely slashed the victims faces. If so I hope they get twenty years and then get shanked by some gang member in prison.

They seem to be black not white judging by those names and after re-reading the article I see that the victims only had minor injuries and mayhem is a felony resulting generally in major injury that causes dis-figuration, like cutting off a persons nose or ear for example.
