School Zone Signs Absent from New Henrico High School - wtvr
#1 Sep 5, 2010
What I don't understand is why this road is still a 55 MPH limit? This area has been 55 MPH for a long time. It's no longer some rural road that is little used and with only a few residential neighborhoods. VDOT should address the speed on this road and reduce it down to 45 MPH. What the heck is VDOT thinking....or maybe the better question to ask - IS VDOT thinking at all?!?!?!

Due to state budget cutbacks, vdot no longer issues common sense; and thinking was evidently curtailed as well. However, we'll see if drivers actually choose to use their own brains. I mean, should a driver really need a sign to tell them to slow in a school zone?? Seriously? One would think drivers would slow down and be cautious anyway, but no, they don't even drive the speed limit. I routinely see people driving 5 or even 10 miles OVER the 55 speed limit on that stretch of road.
They could drop the speed limit to 35 if they wanted, and people would do whatever they wanted to anyway, because a lot of drivers these days are just thoughtless, self-important knuckle-worts.
