Had the occasion to ride down Sixth street toward Fuzzy's tonight. Imagine my shock when I get close to the intersection and see about 30 young people. Not young teens, but older teens and others in the early twenty rangeThey are all over the sidewalk from where the old Wentz hardware store was and spilling over onto Sixth and out across Vermont Avenue. This is nothing but a ticking time-bomb!! Where are the police to break them apart and get them on their way? The police HAD to know there was a crowd issue last night by Fuzzy's. It's only a matter of time before one of the thugs causes a serious problem either with a passing car or with Fuzzy's. I simply cannot believe the police, mayor, boro manager and council aren't on top of this!

You are so right, I saw it to. It is ridiculous that they do not know what is happening at all times and in every inch of the town. Do we not have psychic cops on the pay roll that can foresee these things?

Do the leaders of this town expect us to call 911 on our own, I mean I would have to pick up a phone, dial 911, and talk to someone! I pay taxes to not deal with this BS.

The Older teens were having a weenie pulling contest, Fuzzys gave the hardest yankers free iced teas. Fun was had by all.

Nobody should have to call the police for a sight like that, the police should know what is going on if they are doing their jobs. Sixth Street is heavily travelled and the police go by there often. The police know what is happening but do nothing about it. It is a regular sight to see in the evenings. Ask Fuzzys how many times they have called and the police either do not come or come and do nothing. Prediction: Fuzzys won't last much longer up there if this is allowed to continue happening. Something bad, really bad is going to happen with that many young people gathering en masse like that. It's not a question of if but when.

Fuzzy's wont last long? Weird.. I remember when I was a kid, we hung out there too. That was at least 25 years ago. I remember all the fuddy duddys pitching fits about us hanging out too. If they are not doing anything wrong, what is the issue? Shall the police respond to every "something might happen" situation? If thats the case, you might want to hire about 1000 more officers. If they are causing a disturbance, call the police. And dont call 911 unless its an emergency, call the regualar number.

Your so on the money man! I know for a fact the police have these really expensive computers in their cars that tell them exactly what is happening all the time around town, so those lazy pigs know exactly what is going on and just do not respond. Dam it we live in the USA where it is against the law to stand on a corner, the punishment is DEATH! These Pigs need to get there with there guns and shoot these teens now, that why we buy them gun with our TAX dollars, if they are not going to use them why should we pay for them! I even heard there was some colored teens in the group, you know what that means.... Am I right or am I right?

Thirty older teens gathering on a corner at 7 in the evening on a Tuesday night is a recipe for trouble. They are not there discussing homework. In this day and age when life and property are so highly disregarded, unemployment is high, guns are so readily available, and in an area where crimes are committed for drug money, this is a ticking time bomb ready to go off. There is a big difference between 30 people hanging around on a corner today and 3-4 who might have hung out on a corner 25 years ago. I am no expert, but I would venture to say at least 2 or 3 of the group was carrying a concealed weapon, and would not surprise me in the least if one of those was a gun. It's better to take precautionary measures and break up a group that size rather than taking reactionary measures after trouble begins.

So do you use cards, or images just come to, that you can see the future and know if people have concealed weapons? You truly have a gift.

Now I am on your side, I mean the communist had it right, people do not have right and should be told to go home or have a curfew.

Be careful when assuming. 2-3 hanging out 25 years ago? It was more than that.. and how did you know none of us were carrying a concealed firearm? Dont just assume that a gathering of teens is a powderkeg waiting to explode. Again, dont assume. If you feel that something doesnt look right, call the police. There is nothing wrong with that.

I saw the gathering as well and feel the same as most of you, but would like to defend the police in this instance as I beleve they were responding to a bigger issue at that time. The only reason I had to drive by the ara was because the main road was blocked off. I believe there was gas leak or something.

I still talk and act like a kid? How so? Im one of the reasons the town has gone to shit? No, its people like you who sit behind their computers or peering out their blinds.. complaining about how bad the town is.. and DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT! You, my friend, may not be the problem, but you sure the hell arent any part of the solution. I also stated that the poster had some valid points.. but I also said not to assume that when you see kids something bad is going to happen. Its Glassport, not Baghdad.

Give me an example of what the boro shut down. I want to hear it. Someplace the kids all used to hang out that they can't now because the boro shut them down. Are you referring to an abandoned house? The St. Cecelia's building? Please, tell us what!

The first ended because of fights, the second the youth destroyed and the third was also destroyed by youth. So, three examples that Glassport youth didn't appreciate or respect. And now you think Glassport should bring them back? Get real son. People, including the boro, only put up with so much crap.
