Yeah, it's totally trivial. Such a tiny building. No toxic materials blowing out into neighbors lungs. No chance of a fire or loss of life occurring as long as it stands. No tax dollars have been given to the TRCOG to get this completed long ago. Why shouldn't the taxpayers who live around it have to live in blight and danger? Maybe it should just be left alone. Not worth bothering with really.

Glad you agree with us friend. It really is trivial. No need for anybody to get their panties all up in a bunch like No Shame.

Everyone can lay blame where they choose, but let's remember years ago when the Church closed their doors and it remained a beautiful but sheltered building that was breathing taking just to walk past. Unfortunately young kids became mischievous and acted out in such a unforgiving way it sent a once gorgeous house of prayer into a terrible eye sore. However not just laying blame on the few who should have had their ass beat and made to financially repair along with their parents to fix this problem, but lets lay blame on the Adults that were a part of the problem , the so called, Heritage Society. Lmao. They let the Church look haggerrd in every sense of the word. Now having said this, why after years of this once House of God , owned by others, taxes not paid, deplorable conditions made by humans, some now lay the blame on Council . Say what you want but it all goes back to that first holy stain glass window having a brick being thrown into it by that little devil child. God Bless us all to be forgiven but never to forget.

Council IS ultimately to blame along with the old council and past mayor for not aggressively protecting the structure from vandalism. They know who did the damage. The police know. Strictly enforcing the laws and pursuing charges against the vandals could have prevented the structure from ever becoming the eyesore it is today. The vandals are known. The boro chose not to go after them because they are friends with the families. They allowed this atrocity to happen, they should ultimately take the blame. They are the ones: Demarco, Desue, Foster, Crncic, Skerkoski, Trunzo, and Uziel who allowed this to happen under their watch and are now costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax money to do nothing but remove some asbestos and the windows, with hundreds of thousands more still yet to be spent.

What your stating in a long drawn out post is that every vacant building, house, etc.that has a current, deceased , back taxes or becomes a vandalized four wall shelter becomes the boroughs fault? The borough did know who was at fault for this terrible action but the new owners of the Church swept it under the table. If anything the borough should ammend stricter code rules and harsher fines. Stop the bullshit before it starts........

Any reason why NO ONE ever mentions the fact that the people who bought the building from the Catholic church were NEVER held financially responsible in any way? This shouldn't even be a financial burden on taxpayers. That property had owners who should have paid for everything.

McKeesport, like thousands of other towns and cities, is filled with empty, abandoned commercial buildings. There are 'owners of record" or lists of names for these addresses. Most owners are companies that went bankrupt or disappeared, or failed property flippers, or persons long passed away. Most have long stopped paying property taxes or taking care of those properties.

States and counties usually do not have the staff or money or even interest to track down the owners and sue them especially if they are out of county or out of state. They do not even want to take over the property as it costs tax dollars to provide security and grounds maintenance.

Many properties are filled with toxic materials including asbestos, lead paint, and mold. They cost more to legally and properly clean and restore and sell them or tear them down. This is a Great Depression and, contrary to the hype and propaganda of real estate sellers and mortgage givers, most older and empty commercial buildings remain very hard to sell or give away.

This isn't McKeesport and the owners of the old church were well known locals, not a mysterious bankrupt corporation from parts unknown.
