I can't believe the injustice... there must be a constitutional amendment regarding to television rights.
Get real!
don't be so quick to say the deputies haven't broken any laws, those females that have pressed the charges against the jailer have but there's nothing being done about that.

I can see where a lot of you would think that the people in the jail don't deserve anything but bread and water, but I've been there in the work environment and I have seen a lot of the people brought in up there and it be over something they really could not help. Now I will say that the vast majority needed to be there but I was not one to pass judgment on them as to there guilt, My job was to retain them until the time that the court system said they could be released.
I did see a lot of things go on that I didn't think that should be happening but it really wasn't any of my business. In all reality, the people that has been sentenced is the ones that has lost rights and thats when it's a felony. The ones that are awaiting trial has not been convicted so there fore they still have there rights such as voting and having fire arms.
As far as the smoking ban, The state now requires that if your county houses state inmates, it has to be a non smoking facility. The deputy's that go in the sally port to smoke should have to go out side because that is still part of the jail, unless they have it in there where if the sally port door is open it can be considered out side.

When jail is more comfortable than home... there's a problem. Three square meals, a warm dry place to sleep and no bills or job to worry about. Heck, some days it sounds like the easier road. When it's easier to think about going back to jail than worrying about getting caught for doing a crime... there's a problem. And it's a problem in our community. It's why we have so many repeat offenders. It's why we have so many young inmates... they weren't dealt with as juvenile offenders. As long as there's a mindset that we should cater to them... give them cigs since the jailers have cigs. Or for juveniles give them the same privileges their teachers have... then there's going to be chaos and it's going to multiply for years to come.

The women that filed the charges against Leland are;
1. Sharon Houchens (Buckley)
2. Sylvia Davidson
3. Juanita Adwell
4. Gail Boles
5. Janice Davidson

The ring leader of this pack that got it all started is Sharon Houchens (formerly Sharon Buckley). In my opinion, she is nothing but a bitch and has laid with any man that will lay with her, eeewwwwwww. She's nasty.

That quoted the wrong post -- it should be about the idiot that the old man, lost and confused, would be put in jail until his son gets there.... Sorry "Have a Beer"

Only one of these surprise me. Juanita Adwell surprises me. I didn't think she would do that. After all, she ********** hasn't been, by far, little miss perfect while working there. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

"If you can't do the time, don't do the crime"
Problem is "the time" is to easy. Prisnors have acces to things I can't afford. Work out facilities? I would have to pay to join a club? Cable internet? I pay thru the nose for those. Free medical and dental!(Break the law and we'll fix your teeth should be the new slogan) They aren't pretty but even their clothes are free. If jail was more like a punishment and less like a little time off work some of them might not be back for the 3rd, 4th, 5th or more time.
I will not cry because they can't smoke.(they should be thankful. This is a free stop smoking technique) I don't care if they make them watch pbs, the learning channel, or Uncles Albert and Aunt Nellie's trip to Branson all day or if the throw all the tvs out!
IT IS JAIL! NOT A PAID VACATION!

Don't forget about the other free fringe benifits of free dating service and hemorrhoid and tonsil removal. Useful metal shop training tecniques on making sharp objects. Learning the art of tatooing. Training for useful skills as a barber shaving your cellmates head. The imperative skills of soap handling tecniques in the shower. The valuable skill of smuggling things into jail in your ass to keep bigger things out of your ass.
Yes, jail is right up there with disneyland.

No, what you are saying is that you have never got caught. A person can go to jail over an accusation that may be false or true. A person can go to jail over an unpaid speeding ticket or seat belt ticket. Don't give me that holier than thou BS. No one is perfect.
I don't get speeding tickets anymore because I never drive more then 5 miles over the limit and always paid them when I did. They can't arrest me for not wearing my seatbelt, they can only issue a ticket. A person can be arrested and taken to jail over a false accusation but that person can get out on bail because they are not in prison as punishment. The topic is about people who are in prison as a punishment and the rights that they should or shouldn't have. Your examples are irrelevant.

Let'em smoke. Might shorten their lives and take the tax burden on the regular law abiding folks away quicker.

As a matter of fact I do agree with you. Not everyone who ends up in jail is a bad person. They just made a bad mistake. That does not mean they should have special treatment in prison and does not mean that the taxpayers should be providing luxuries to these people. They made a mistake, they need to pay for it, and if they do and come out a better citizen then great, the system worked. And I'm certainly not selfish enough to want to force the tax payers to pay for luxuries for prisoners on the off chance that I may be a prisoner one day.
Personally I'm sick and tired of these people bouncing in and out of prison because they don't care to go back to prison since it's a nice vacation paid for by the tax payers.

If you are in jail for cold checks then it wasn't for a few dollars to get baby formula and wasn't the first cold check written. If I'm not mistaken it has to be atleast over $300 before the judge will think about jail time. Otherwise you just pay the check off and court fees. Those who break the law do not deserve luxuries on our tax dollars.
