I'm very new here to the area, arrived a week ago from Georgia. I'm highly impressed with the Glasgow area and plan on calling it home. Your new moist restaurants are similar to Sunday laws in Georgia. My question is if the establishments, or more better put their patrons, would be interested in doing karaoke. I've been in this business for several years, although not as active as I once was, and would like your input. Most folks aren't interested in karaoke without a little "liquid courage". Let me know what you think and I can approach some of the establishments and see what I can do to make it happen.

I do enjoy karaoke after a few drinks, but I do not seeing it going over well in Glasgow. If you look to Bowling Green, karaoke nights in restaurants typically leave the business short on customers...nobody likes to listen to a screatching cat while eating. Seeing as how you have to have a certain percentage of food sales in order to serve alcohol here, a restaurant is the only option, and as I see it, a setup for failure.

I've seen a couple restaurants do it in Gatlinburg it does well. One of them sells beer and pizza and stays packed. Just what we need in cave city.

The restaurant atomosphere is one of the things that concerned me. When I was into the business more in Georgia, it was in "bars" where folks are there to drink. It wouldn't benefit one of the local establishments to have karaoke if they were going to lose business to their dining customers. On the other hand, if one wanted to pick up their weekend business with karaoke singers that would like to have dinner as well as participate, it would be a win-win situation for both the establishment and customers that didn't want to drive to BG with gas prices the way they are. Thank you all for your comments and can't wait to read more. Have a great day.

If you know of a restaurant that has done it well, then perhaps I've just not come across those...I am falable in judgement. I just remember Tedesco's in B.G. being a horrible place to eat during karaoke night...and when it closed and he moved to the square under a new name, it was just as bad on karaoke nights. It was a great way to ruin good food. Granted, not everyone will share my opinion. As I recall though, most of the people singing on those nights were college students...and I'm really not sure Glasgow's campus supports enough students to fill that void. I'm not trying to say it's a horrible idea, this town needs something to do. I'm just saying it's a huge risk that I'm not sure a lot of restaurants around here will take.
