Just curious to know if anyone plans on sending their children to the new county school next year? I work near the new school and haven't decided what to do with my three children who attend Red Cross Elementary. Any thoughts about the new school? Who might the new principal be? Is it still going to be a school focusing on technology?

Has Anthony Frazier already been hired? I, too, think he would be a great principal.

Who said Anthony Frazier was moving from Park City? I don't know where you heard this garbage, but it's not so. The job is still posted on the school website. Anthony wanted Park City. He would not move from there. The Red Cross principal job is also posted to be filled.

I didn't mean we wouldn't move because of Mr. Frazier. I think he's a great principal. We're just happy where we are.

It sure is hush hush right now. The website indicates that they'll name someone before the 2008 school calendar ends. That's next Friday! I hear that there is a lot "riding" on the new school so hiring will be done very "strategically" if you know what I mean. There are a lot of Glasgow, Barren, and surrounding area teachers that want to make the transfer. Do you think it'll be difficult to get hired there?

It's posted on the website because they have not started the interview process yet, plus it's board policy that the position has to be posted for at least 30 days before starting the interview process. Sorry, but I think you're wrong about Mr. Frazier. I'm betting he will be principal at NJE and Mr. Moore will be principal at RC.

I can guarentee you that if A. Frazier is the principal at NJ you will see only the best staff because he is an excellent educator.

You're right and I'm guessing that Dr. Ralston will let him pick and choose who he wants on his staff. There'll be only the best of the best at NJE.

"who said" it looks like you were dead wrong on your prediction that Frazier "wanted Park City" and that "he would not move from there." The GDT has an article in today's paper stating that Frazier is going to be the new Principal at the new school according to Ralton. It's been a done deal for some time now. It being set up to see who can "out do" the other one -- Red Cross or N. Jackson...

Here's another theory to confirm how "political" the school system is in Barren County. Wasn't it a fact that many parents wanted Frazier to get the Principal's job at Red Cross BUT he didn't. Instead he was sent to Park City. And now that they are having a hard time getting a lot of parents to switch over to NJ from RC, Ralston offers the new Principal's job at NJ to Frazier. Could the real reason be to draw many of those RC parents who supported Frazier over to NJ to relieve the overcrowding at RC??? What do you think?

When was the last new elementary added, not the new building but the new school?

Starting a new school from scratch is a huge undertaking. Mr. Fraizer's popularity certainly won't hurt NJ. However, let's not forget that he is popular because he's good. His focus is on education, doing what's best for kids. He stays positive on a professional level. He takes his job seriously and works hard at it because he obviously loves the work he's doing. He's proven himself in Barren County schools. He's the top of the top of school principals. He deserves, and in my opinion, has the most positive energy to have the honor of opening a new school.

Has anyone received letters from Dr. Ralston inviting their children to attend North Jackson? I have heard from friends that some have received them and some have not? Wondering why my child didn't receive one?? Any thoughts?

I think that's an interesting theory and may be true. I heard that they are predicting that NJE will have 500 students on opening day. The school is built to hold only 300 students. If the prediction holds true, why in the world would they OPEN the school with an overcrowding problem? IMO somebody (Ralston?) must be an idiot who has no forethought or foresight when it comes to planning/building/opening a new school. With the state budget cuts in education, it doesn't matter if you choose NJE or RC - the classroom will have more students per teacher ratio. Plus the word is that classified staff will be cut to the bare bones, so there will be no instructional assistants to help in the classrooms next year. Glasgow district has already said that they have enough money saved that they won't have to cut ANY staff next year. Parents would be better off sending their children to Glasgow where classes are smaller and staffing is adequate. I'm seriously considering sending my child to Glasgow next year. My child is in kindergarten at RC and there are 28 students in his class. That is entirely too many kids for one room, especially for a kindergarten class where the students require more 1 on 1 attention. I've come to the conclusion that Ralston doesn't care about what's best for the kids. He's only interested in bragging about how many kids he can stuff into a building. Barren County doesn't need a new school. It needs a new superintendent and new school board members.
