That probably is not a wise move. This community already has two well-respected funeral homes that are long-established (plus Watts, if they're still in business). Every time a third funeral home has been attempted here, it fails. Remember Waldrop's?

For years Hatcher & Saddler and Crow have enjoyed ever-changing popularity, but neither suffers from lack of business. At the moment, Crow seems to have more funerals. People from the north end of the county prefer H & S and people from the south and east end of the county prefer Crow. They are both excellent. I didn't realize how fortunate we are to have them until I lived elsewhere and saw what half-rate funeral homes other towns have.

I'm sure they'll get business with all the deaths happening here in Barren and surround counties.

my time comes, you'll see me at Hatcher and Saddler. Wouldn't trust anyone else with that job. I have family who has always chosen Crow's, but, in the past several years, Crow's to me, has lost the personal touch and it is not the same family like feeling they used to have. So my bones will rest at H&S till they plant me in the ground.

Tommy High at Hatcher and Saddler is an incredible gentleman and so professional at his job. His caring attitude is very helpful.

Don't know how old you are, but it appears that most of those that are partners at H & S maybe dead before you! There are some old timers there.

City needs to stop letting them park out front, it's dangerous.

Hasn't H & S Funeral Home been in existence for over a 100 years? They may have some "old timers" but don't you think they will be in position to hire some younger staff when the times comes? IMO, you sound stupid with your remarks.

I feel the same way. To me all they are worried about is money. I don't want to have to use either of them, but I also will be at Hatchers. My family told me no way. But I guess I will haunt them if they take me to Crows.

You must not know who the owners are, because I doubt that the oldest of them isn't much more than his early 70's. There are some older gentlemen who work there part time, but they aren't the owners.

I believe the difference is that they aren't really locally owned, just locally managed under the old name. When you get into big-time funeral home business, the bottom line is get 'em, get 'em out, get the money. Not slamming the Crows, they're great people, but I suspect it's the situation they're in.

NO REASON TO SHOUT! Only on one side of the street and parallel parked to a curb on a side street like Crows not heading in then backing out into traffic on a main city street like H & S. Ever been in front of H & S when someone is trying to pull into a front spot making a left turn from North Race and holds up traffic for two blocks and those waiting at the light. Try it you won't like it.

Now how dumb am I sir/madam, I don't use slang or crude language when trying to talk intelligently to someone! It is a mark of ignorance and no class!

Excuse me, but early 70's is a senior citizen. Don't you agree?

Why? The owners and those working there are older members of the community. I never said anything derogatory about them. Just stating a fact. Heck, I'm old, too.
