Today was similar to yesterday. They had dad sitting up in the cardiac chair again. But today was longer than yesterday. So that is good progress! They are hoping tomorrow to be able to take dad off the respirator to continue strengthening his lungs. Say a prayer for another restful evening and more progress tomorrow! Thank you!

Tell Dr. Marrs that his patients miss him and love him. He has always been so sweet and nice And tried to explain everything to you ,so you would know what the problem was. Not many Dr's do that.

First, I want to thank everyone for an incredible amount of support, encouragement, and dedicated prayer for dad's well being. The stories you've openly shared about your interactions and experiences with dad have given us a lifetime of memories which we'll save and cherish. They'll be great reminders over time, not just how we will remember dad, but also how you will remember and appreciate his life of service to his family, his church, his patients, and his community.

When dad was first flown to U of L a little over two weeks ago, one of the very first realizations we were given is that dad would not practice medicine again. In that alone, we knew that the best outcome for him making a full recovery was not possible. But with each passing day, as we saw the smallest improvements, we held out hope. And quite frankly we have been hoping and praying for a miracle.

Sometimes its very hard to accept God's will for our lives. For my dad, it was for him to be a physician. And unfortunately, dad has suffered some major setbacks in the past couple couple days. And even prior to then, with each positive step forward came with it a turn for the worse. So this is a very sad and difficult time for all of us.

Dad is in the process of being moved to palliative care where they will oversee his final care. We will ask that each of you continue to pray for him to be healed completely, which will mean God taking him home. And please pray for our mom! We truly value all of your friendships and the love you have demonstrated our family!

I am so sorry to hear this. I was so hoping and praying that he would soon be able to come home soon, even if he couldn't practice medicine. We love him so much. He seems like a member of our family.

R.I.P. William Faunus Marrs

GLASGOW – William Faunus Marrs (Bill), passed away in Louisville, on April 9, 2013, at the age of 64.

He served the community of Glasgow in many ways, but primarily as a practitioner of general medicine from 1975 to the time of his death.

William Faunus Marrs was born in Jan. 22, 1949, in Glasgow, to the late William Fleming Marrs and Inez Bowman Marrs. The date of his birth marked the exact 30th anniversary of the passing of his grandfather and namesake, William Faunus Marrs. William Fleming Marrs served as postmaster at the general store he owned and operated in Mount Hermon. Inez Marrs tended the family garden and watched after the children. The Marrs’ commitment to Christ was evident in their daily lives and became an integral part of Bill’s life.

The only boy and perceived favorite out of the four Marrs children, Bill was eager to help around the house, at the general store, and at neighboring farms. His dedication to hard work and helping others laid the foundation for his dedication to education and the desire to practice medicine.

Bill attended high school in Tompkinsville, where his affinity for sports led him to the football field. He graduated from Asbury College in 1970 after completing his pre-medical curriculum but not before meeting his future wife, Maria Holston, of Jackson, Ga. Bill and Maria moved to Louisville for his medical education shortly after marrying.

The young Marrs family moved to Glasgow in 1975 to start the medical practice that would continue until his passing. In addition to his role as doctor, Bill served the community in many ways. For over 25 years, he served as president of the Barren County Medical Society; he served as the team physician for the Glasgow High School football team during the 1980s and 1990s; and, he taught the senior high Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church for 25 years. In addition to the many other community boards and committees on which he served, he was actively serving on the Board of Directors for the Community Relief Fund.

Bill is survived by his wife, Maria Holston Marrs; three sons, William Fleming “Billy”(Cheryl Holsey), Benjamin Andrew “Benji”(Missy Hart) and Brock Holston (Ravin Wright); and grandchildren, Katherine Lynn, Benjamin Andrew Jr.“Andrew,” Mary Keene, William Faunus “Liam” and Evelyn Grace. He is survived by three sisters, Doris Marrs McKinley (Dr. Robert N.), Brenda Bowman Marrs and Martha Marrs Yezerski (Dr. John A.); two aunts, Sue Carol Jaggers and Betty Bowman, of Glasgow; one uncle, Dr. Gordon Larso, of DeLand, Fla.; and in-laws, Andy and Bette Holston and nephews, John Eric Yezerski (Courtney), Matthew Yezerski (Erica) and Adam Yezerski. He is also survived by several additional nieces, nephews and cousins, and his devoted nurse and friend of 33 years, Nell Grider.

Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church on Friday, April 12, from 3 until 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Medical Care of Glasgow, the Community Relief Fund or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

It is nice to read so many positive comments on topix about another individual, something I'm not used to seeing on topix. What doc in Glasgow can now replace Dr Marrs as the best all around caring, concerned family doc?

He still seems so young to me, it's just proof you never know your last day. Had he been ill before his sudden sickness? He really treasured Glasgow and his patients, he was only 26 when he started practicing. They should name something after him.

I just now noticed this has happened! Very sorry to hear this. I am a drug rep that has called on Dr. Marrs numerous times over the past few years. He was a great man. A tremendous loss to the Glasgow community. My thoughts are with his family and office during this time. RIP.

So interesting how many people just loved this guy. He was a pervert. Those who "really" knew him knew it. Plenty of people in the area are aware of his behavior. He was not at all what you people think he was. I cannot stand to see people in the city I love completely snowed by this creep. Some of you will be angry and start all sorts of threads about this... go ahead. Doesn't matter. I just feel sorry for those of you that didn't know any better and wasted time and prayers on this jerk. He was not a blessing to anyone but himself.
I have reported this comment to Feedback. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to do this. This is the only negative comment in this thread. We will hope it gets removed asap before it hurts too many family and friends.

Dr Marrs was not perfect, no one is perfect. The allegations made against him are probably false, But Dr Marrs had his faults. Dr Marrs was no better than anyone else. If his family and friends can't take the heat, they need to hide under the bed and not come out. Everyone has been hurt by this trashy site whether you are a mayor, judge, teacher, etc all the way down to bus drivers, janitors, etc. Dr Marrs living or deceased should not get special treatment. It makes me sick that we have to protect the rich and we must report any naughty talk because we don't want the country club to get there little feelings hurt, while we have active remarks on here about 10 and 11 year old kids being represented in violent, inappropriate sexual remarks.

I don't mean to bash this great doctor and yes he was a blessing to the community, but that man killed on the lawn mower last week was a blessing as well, he may not have finished high school and may have been arrested, but he is just as good as the lessenberrys, the Myers, Dr Marrs or anyone else. Dr Marrs family should be so thankful he was able to give them a great life, buy them fancy cars, pay for college, etc. Most do not have a daddy that had his talents and abilities.

Go right ahead and report whatever you like... it's true and that's the way it is. You can "report" but he can't take back the things he did. Report away - it's a free country, and nobody said anything that's untrue.
