Kentucky State Police Post 15 was contacted by the Edmonton Police Department. They advised they had received a call from a female in Indiana stating that her mother, 43 year old Jeannie K. Stewart, was being held hostage by a 17 year old juvenile neighbor and that he had beaten his father to death.
Post 15 units were dispatched to the residence in Edmonton KY. Troopers Bobby Maxwell, Ricky Brooks and Sgt. J.W. Gibson assisted by the Metcalf County Sheriffs Office approached the residence on foot and observed a male (later identified as the 17 year old juvenile) removing a body from the back door of the residence. Troopers approached the male and took him into custody without incident.
Units then entered the residence and found Jeannie Stewart unharmed. The victim was identified as 54 year old Robert H. Fritz of Edmonton, KY.
His father was an abusive alocholic and Josh caught alot of hell from him since as long as he could remember I'm sure. His mother abandoned him with his father about 3 years ago? and she alone was a big enough bitch. I remember in sixth grade we were leaving at 6am from bowling park for summer camp and all of us kids were telling our parents good bye and such, Josh went to give his mom a hug and she sort of just pushed him away saying " Go On!, Get on the Bus you pussy!"
Josh and I actually were neighboors for about 3-4 years when I lived on Neeper road.Theres no way in my mind Josh was born a murder, spending all night up playing Nintendo 64, Going swimming at Lee's Pond. Josh was just a kid, I dont really want to know what happened that sent him over the edge. Hopefully he'll get help, maybe an insanity plea? His father almost definetly deserved what was coming to him I'm sure, and the guy couldint play guitar. He butchered free bird lol.
Im thinking of you

I use to live close to Josh .I always had a feeling that something bad was going on.He couldn't be a kid like the rest of the children around there. Most of the kids seemed to have a close bond .They were together ever chance riding bikes , motorcycles , 4 wheelers and walking the woods by the creek.I remember him as always staying in front of his house or next door at the pond.He was always respectful yet very timid and nervous acting.I'm so sorry Josh that we all let you down. Maybe if I myself or someone close to you could of had a better view of your life then we could of helped. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I feel so sorry for the kid that killed his dad. He's the one that has suffered the most from this. Now, he has snapped, killing his dad, who was apparently not very good to him for years on years, and he's the one going to be paying for the cycle of bad parenting that was raising him. This is so sad.Kids just don't up and decide one day to beat their parent in the head till they are dead. Somehting bad caused all of this brutality. Anger and beatings breeds more of it. All parents should learn something from this situation and pray for this poor kid, and learn to be better to their own if they are in a bad home situation with their own kids.

Pray that the courts will be lienient** ,,, Maybe he can get the counseling that he needs now and have a life someday. I know what he did was wrong but you can only take so much. GOD be with you young man, that you will grow up and somehow be able to have a life and a some happiness.

I think the courts should consider what that poor child has had to go through over the years. I think the father got what he deserved. You can't expect anyone, be it a child or an adult to continuously take beatings because someone was drunk and impaired. God Bless you child.

This may sound harsh but I blame this on the Mother and the rest of the adults in the family. They knew what was going on and they did nothing to get this child out of the horrible situation. The adults all had an idea how this would end. They aren't as stupid as they are letting on.

We were beat as kids. I'm talking blood and broken bones but I never once saw that as an excuse to kill anyone. None of my 8 brothers and sisters have ever killed anyone because of the abuse we suffered from our father. My mother did nothing. She turned her head and put her fingers in her ears and pretended that we were the perfect family in church every Sunday.

I still can't find it in my heart to forgive her for ignoring the abuse of all her children just so she would look like the good little wife.

I feel sorry for this kid. I don't feel sorry for the mother and adults in the family who witnessed this abuse on a daily basis and did nothing to help this kid. They should be charged with murder...not the kid.

I didn't know Josh very well, but he was always respectful, sweet, and kind in my presence. I was shocked and disheartened when I heard about his actions. I know that he must have been desperate to be free of his situation. I know that many questioned his home life, but none of them did anything. Most likely because despite his situation, he was such a good person. The real criminals in this are those that did nothing!

I pray that he will be helped and given a chance to live the rest of his life in freedom and to find joy.
