I officially believe that it is time to employee an active duty military personnel into every single K-12 school in America! These people have a hard enough time finding a job when discharged. Leave them employed by the government and protecting our children here at home... hell with electronic security, nothing provides safety better than an Unapologetic American Soldier! Put that soldier behind the security camera, and he can be waiting at the door locked and loaded when the assailant tries something!

I'd be proud to know my tax dollars go to that!!!

It's sad, very sad, that this is our society today and it has come to this but I agree with you 100%! It is highly unlikely it will happen though because our nations defense fund is top of the White House's list of monetary cuts.

All I can think about is those poor parents who have to go in and identify their Childs little body there with gunshot wounds. My heart just breaks for them and for the terror those little kids lived through. May God be with all those families.

It is heartbreaking. The pain these families suffer today will stay with them the rest of their lives. There's really nothing we can say to help them and that fact is painful for the rest of us. Maybe it would be a better world if we were all forced to close our eyes and walk in the victims families shoes just for 2 minutes every day. Eating hurts. Sleeping is near impossible. Talking tears your heart out. Remembering blows your heart into a million little pieces day after day after day. The vision in your mind of your innocent baby dead from a crazed persons hand. Christmas. Birthdays. Their favorite toy laying on their bed. The planned vacation the whole family was looking so forward to. Pets whose little owners won't be coming home to play with them or take walks together. Those babies cats and dogs grieve too. Their favorite meals. Do we ever fix those and try to swallow that food ever again? A home movie of a kiss and a hug and an I love you mommy and daddy. How many years will it take before the parents can bear to watch those precious memories again.

Never knowing why will haunt people. Never understanding "why my sweet innocent child" will make people angry and bitter. I can't imagine how these people will ever function again. I can't imagine they will ever know true happiness again. That makes me sad too. Our world is so wicked I can't imagine it standing much longer.

In my opinion, they need to have a law enforcement officer in every school or train someone at the school on how to use a gun. Might be a good idea to have any visitor even a parent picking a child up early to go through a metal detector like at court houses, I know it's inconvenient, but in this day and age you have to take precautions. Remember a few years ago a nutcase snuck into a high school, took a classroom hostage and killed a girl through an unlocked door, got to start really beefing security up at schools, the airports had to change and it looks like schools are going to have to change too. Terrorists are in your backyard today Morris than in Afghsnistan.

The boy was severely mentally ill, so we can't hate him for what he couldn't control.

It has always been this way, and as long as humanity is around, it always will be.

They were pictures of every child that attended that school for the coroner to use. They were actually identified by the parents with pictures to avoid shock. Get your facts straight and save the unnecessary drama. Three dummies agreed with you. Look at the grief ignorance has caused.

Bad idea. Some of our troops returning have some serious mental problems themselves. The percentage of people that do this is small. Probably the same percentage if you placed armed soldiers in the schools. You never know when mental illness will strike. My opinion is this. Cut the drama and politics and look at the problem seriously. We live in a troubled world and maybe there is no solution but we know from Sandy Hook and Aurora, Colorado shooting these individuals were having mental problems and in contact with educational systems prior to the shootings. Actions were not taken by the educational systems themselves and there lies a good place to start by them changing their attitudes and becoming more aware of a threat. Medication is never looked into. A few years ago in Pikeville or Paintsville a student killed at least one parent, under treatment. Also suicides seem to happen under these treatments. Drugs can have some strange effects on someone already disturbed. There are some reports of the Colorado person being under treatment also, but few details.

Not that I think guns are the real problem. Just that they are invested in them.

Give me a break. if you can drive, load a gun, know how a ar-15 operates, aim and shoot 20 kids, don't say he didn't know what he was doing. I'm tired of hearing this crap. Every murder since the begining of history was commited by an idiot. That excuse don't cut it. Its because society is full of cowards and punks.

There was a solider recently who sneaked out of camp killed a bunch of kids and got caught sneaking back into camp. Who knows what was wrong, but that was out of character for the solider. I personally believe the mind can do some strange things. It is rare, but unexplained thinks can happen.

Cowards and punks are the reason good folks should own/carry a gun. Had 1 teacher been prepared your punk would have been dead before he got started.

I'm not defending what the guy did, I'm just saying mentally ill people often have a very very different view of reality that causes them to do the things they do. Take schizophrenics: they can drive, load a gun, etc. But they can, at the same time, hear a non-stop voice in their head (that is very real to them) telling them to kill their whole family or else the Earth will be destroyed by a giant comet.
