Susan Peters is not a very nice person. I worked with her and she was NEVER nice to me at all. She walked around while she was the INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST like she was the principle of the school. I also know for a fact that she has grabbed children by the arm shook them and told them to SHUT UP! This person should not in my opinion still be teaching!
If you know for a fact that she has grabbed children by the arm shook them and told them to shut up then you should have reported it. But by not reporting you have done a disservice to the children. But I highly doubt you know for a fact because you wouldn't be on here complaining and making things up. As I said in my earlier post I know both David and Susan. I went to Red Cross and I have never had a problem with either one of them. Also I wasn't part of the "in crowd" at Red Cross and I didn't have money. Susan is a kind person who genuinely cares about the children she teaches. She has shown me and my family nothing but kindness. I can not believe that you people would be on here talking about someone that has served their community by teaching the young. We need more people like David and Susan in our schools. That teach our children morals, and about subjects like math, english, science etc.

Once a teacher has tenure, or when a teacher is buddies with the principal, it does absolutely no good to "report" them for anything. That's why we have so many crappy teachers in the classroom now.

Timmy, this was done at a school play in front of lots of parents. The mother did REPORT her to the SUPERINTENDENT! Of course, she has tenure and nothing was done to her. If her morals are so great then why would she tell a child to shut up! That is totally ridiculous. Also, know for a fact she grabbed one of her students by the shirt and drug him across the floor to her desk. She was also REPORTED to the PRINCIPAL and SUPERINTENDENT for that! She may be what you say to you...Im just saying that she is NOT that way to ALL!

Susan peters is a wonderfull woman, a strong christan and very showing of her beliefs. She is a childrens church minister and a teacher but also a lover mother and grandmather above all. I think this whole post is stupid and everyone should start thinking about what they say before they say it. I bet each and everyone of you have flaws of your own and one day someone will enjoy trying to point them out in you and bashing you over it.

If they are so much the CHRISTIANATIVE PEOPLE who yall claim to be, then why do they kiss soooooo much butt at thier jobs. David Peters does not have the education to be the Transportation Director< but you see were the ass kissing comes in. A letter has been sent to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinent over this matter. I hope him and Bo Matthews gets fired over this!!!

You're right. David Peters is a bus driver, not a teacher. Susan Peters was demoted from a Central Office position to a kindergarten teacher. I'm not sure what the other poster meant by other issues that they have to deal with but Dave and Susan are both weird folks. You'd have to know them to understand what I mean by that. They both have really strange personalities. I'm not saying that they are bad people but they are just...umm...weird.
David Peters is the interim director of transportation for Barren County Schools. He was appointed to take over at the bus garage when Keith Hale left.

As a Mother who has children that attend Red Cross, I must say hearing that Mrs. Peters has grabbed and shaken a child, really concerns me. I am not familiar with the position of "Instructional Specialist" but I am certain that if she were to do that to any of my children, she would be a "Specialist" in the field of getting her head knotted up. I absolutely detest anyone who mistreats a child.

I agree, and didn't someone comment that she is part of a childrens ministry at her church? This is not good. This should not happen to any child at school.

Exactly! The entire school board had to approve Mr. Peters as interim director. I'm sure everything is on the up and up. Bo Matthews is not going to do something illegal, especially during his first year as superintendent. He will be very diligent when making decisions because he wants to impress, as would anyone just starting a new job. My guess is that the person here on Topix who is sooooo against Mr. Peters has a child who got in trouble on the bus and this person (who is probably the child's mom or dad) doesn't like it that little Jr. got in trouble. Therefore, this person doesn't like Mr. Peters. Just a guess, I really don't know.

I just think it's funny how people throw out "doesn't have enough education" I mean SERIOUSLY....I don't even know the guy, but they won't have a person as the director of transportation who couldn't do the job. Just sorta reeks of a "smear campaign" to me. People just love to jump on the hate band wagon. As long as the buses are maintained and the kids are safe, I would say he's doing a great job. It's not like he going to leave next year and be a principle at GHS or something......LOL

these are just a few of the things i found out about requirements for trans. dir./id the bc board adheres to these national guidelines.

School districts that adhere to the National Association for Pupil Transportation guidelines will require a new transportation director to have gone through 60 hours of "core skill training" courses, along with 32 hours of "skill enhancement electives." "Core training courses" include instruction on such subjects as business writing, school bus specifications, human resources and crisis communications. Elective training topics include procurement and budget management, team communication strategy and accident investigation.

The National Association for Pupil Transportation says that a public school transportation director must be able to establish programs and policies surrounding bus service, setting quality standards for bus drivers and setting system-wide leadership goals for the school district's bus transportation service. Most wanted ads for directors of public school transportation ask that candidates have a masters degree in business administration or public administration and/or five to six years experience running a large transportation operation.
