yeah I have this problem too. mine went up a hundred dollars this month. Do I think my family and me went crazy on useing stuff this mounth. NO!!! I had this problem last year too. I think alot of people did but what can you really do about it? Nothing...They can charge whatever they want whenever they want. Guess what your going to pay it. What you going to do go without it.Its not like theres another company to go to and they know that. So its like the gas company, water its all the same. You got to have them. Is it right? I don't think so I think its gouging too. Just like going to the gas pump. But really what can we do about it. We can all get on here and vent it out. Might make us feel a little better. In the long run were going to pay for it because we got to have it and they know it.

You know it was cold. If the average temperature was 10-15 deg lower that makes a huge difference in your bill. Take the bill and do the math. They do play with the cost pre Kilowatt.

It's a sign of the times. I put in some new windows and re-insulated the attic. My bill is half of what it use to be. You could the difference right after it was done. The plus is a tax deduction. I know it's tough times, but long term it's money well spent.

Uhhh....we had an unusually cold, unusually long cold spell, people!

My last bill was $150- highest I've ever gotten.

Believe me, electricity is cheaper here than just about anywhere...and it seems practically free here compared to some places- like where I'm from, where my friend regularly gets $400 a month electric bills for a 3 bedroom house, and that does not include heat and hot water- which costs him another $500 a month in the winter months!

So be glad that it is still so cheap here.

I guess you have to define cheap ....lol My current electric bill was $68 and my gas was $ 89 . I won't call it cheap, but I can live with it. My house is 1400 sq ft with a basement I keep heated. I keep the thermostat on 73 in the day and 69 at night. After the new windows and insulation I was able to keep it turned down a couple degrees, before the house felt cold and drafty, but not anymore. I don't bundle up, wearing a tee shirt and long bottoms.

As bad as farmers is, try living in Louisville & having LG&E electric. My bill now is around 130 dollars a month. When I lived in Louisville, I had the exact same size apt. and my bill averaged over 500 dollars a month! Yes farmers high bills stink, but you folks should consider yourselves lucky you aren't paying more than what you already are.

Check your kilowatts against last winters and see how much more electricity you used, That and the taxes make for a higher bill.

YOU are doing something right! For a house that size and a heated basement and the temp kept that high....amazing! I never put my heat higher than 60 (I don't like a lot of heat) and your bills almpost put mine to shame!

The blower uses a lot of electric too. It runs on 220V. Althjough that alone should not account for a $100 increase.

But with myself, I keep track of my Kilowatt/hr. usage...and this last month was the most I've ever used- so it was no surprise that my bill was $150.(I had planned on getting a wood stove this year...shoulda done it!)

Here is their PSC approved rate charges for Farmers recc. Basically they charge $ 9.2 cents per KW. That's about $92.00 + per 1000 kw used.

Now on top of that they add taxes and a couple other things ( environmental surcharge )+ your member fee.

Look on your bill, it'll tell you what you used.
