I won't name names, I don't even know this person. But they were arrested and charged with 22 COUNTS OF CONTEMPT OF COURT, LIBEL/SLANDER, RESISTANCE TO ORDER. All 22 offenses were on the same day. They were released the same day of the arrest. I don't understand this. Can someone enlighten me???

I saw that too E.S. - I was wondering perhaps if it wasn't a person who may have had out like 22 returned checks around town. And did not show up for the court hearing...

It means that their did not show up for court, skipped bail, or did not follow through with the requests of a judges order

The person probably disrupted court proceedings on 22 different counts. Most likely his behavior in front of a judge.

I know someone who had this same charge and was in jail for 6 months. Want to know what he did? He sent text messages to his g/f and made slanderous comments. There was a previous order for him to have no contact. Yes, you can go to jail for texting!

those are very typical charges for someone who is in violation of drug court

It also applies if you are out on bond for a previous charge and you break the conditions of that bond before that previous charge has been resolved in the court system. Some of those conditions may include staying drug/alcohol free, not writing cold checks, staying away from a petitioner of an EPO/DVO, etc. If you are caught in violation of your bond conditions the judge will issue a warrant and you return to jail based on your initial arrest, as if you never bonded out. You will be jailed until the final court date for that initial charge. So, lesson learned, if you're granted bond don't screw it up.
