"Last Tuesday, following the international day honoring the disabled, 38 Senate Republicans voted down the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities. With former Senate majority leader and disabled WWII veteran Bob Dole silently beseeching them from his wheelchair, Dole’s fellow Republicans railed against “cumbersome regulations” that could threaten American “sovereignty.”

No matter that Democratic Sen. John Kerry patiently and eloquently explained that the treaty would in no way impact U.S. law but merely encourage other countries to adopt our own standards and make life easier for disabled Americans abroad. Or that the treaty — signed by 154 countries and ratified by 126 — was modeled on the landmark Americans With Disabilities Act, a bill championed by Dole and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush. Or that the treaty itself was drawn up by that notorious U.N.-hugger George W. Bush. Or even that eight Republican senators voted to ratify it, including increasingly rabid Obama foreign policy critic John McCain, who listed two dozen supportive veterans organizations before noting that the treaty was about “American leadership in the world.”"

In case you didn't understand that, Republicans voted down a bill that would allow the disabled in OTHER countries to simply have their lives made a little easier without affecting this country at all because "it would destroy America". That's right, everyone, according to the GOP it seems DISABLED PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES ARE DESTROYING AMERICA.

Folks, I know must of you consider yourselves Republicans, but they just ain't the party they used to be. Now, Democrats aren't some great, god-sent party, but they are MUCH better than the current GOP, and they actually care about the average American.
If you care about yourselves and everyone you know, don't vote GOP.

Democratic party just wants to make everyone dependent on government. They want u beholden to them. They do not want anyone who actually wants to work and support their own families. They have built an entitlement country where people are rewarded for not contributing to the world in any way. My family is not about that. That is why we are in this debt crisis that will be the collapse of this economy. At least maybe if the economy tanks we can improve the gene pool and replenish the values of our founding fathers, creating ppl who WANT to b productive members of society. As things stand now, our numbers are dwindling fast.

The democratic party just wants to build a society dependent on the government. That is why we have so many entitlement programs providing for ppl who have no desire to contribute to society. This will lead to the collapse of the economy and hopefully clean up the gene pool so we can return to a society our forefathers intended, where everyone contributes. I believe in working and supporting my own family but most of America has no work ethic now. they think they deserve to b handed a check, free healthcare, and food stamps so they can use their money to buy cigarettes and a fancy smartphone. Apparently if u have no job, u can't live without one of those. That is why u won the election, because the people voting for Obama did not care about Romneys tax cuts. They don't have to pay any taxes. Yet they can still get a big fat refund check. Go figure. Thanks, I'll stick to the Republicans. Was Democrat for years but got tired of seeing my hard earned money supporting ppl who sit on their asses eating hohos playing on Facebook all day while I am working, going to school, raising a family, and maintaining a household.

John Kerry??? In my opinion he is ONE of the most despicable liberals there ever was, and I have many to choose from. Maybe you should read up on his history or maybe you are just like him and don't care what he's about. And no, I don't agree with everything McCain says or does, but I would like to see how Kerry would have survived being a prisoner of war. When I was young I was also a Democrat, but as I got older and wiser, I found out what they are reall about such as Communism, socialism, government dependency, and a lot of other vile, disgusting, abominable policies. I don't always agree with every Republican, but it will be a cold day in hell before I would ever vote for a liberal Democrat. Sorry if I offend you, I realize most of you don't even believe in heaven and hell, but as you can see I am sick of hearing all this BS you idiots spew all the time.

Well gee, Kerry did win three purple hearts for his service in Vietnam, so I'm sure he knows a thing or two about serving in a war.

I'm the exact opposite. When I was young, I had many conservative views per my upbringing. But as I grew older and my brain developed I began to see that conservatism leads to a dead end for humanity, and is the reason for the all of of the world's wars. And I realized that capitalism and the whole Ayn Rand mentality is the complete antithesis to the teachings of many of the world's religions, including those of Christ, Buddha and Krishna, or of the beliefs of many great men in history, such as Dr. King, Ghandi or John Lennon.

Funny how the Armed Services disagree with Kerry's supposed medals. Didn't Kerry throw somebody's medals over a fence at the White House and then joined in to spit on the Vietnam Vets during one of Kerry's pot laced hazed demonstrations? Tell the WHOLE truth why don't you!!!

Yep, and I say GOOD FOR HIM! War is absurd, and the masters of war are a cancer on the world. You'll find that most veterans (at least, those who haven't been brainwashed by blind nationalism) have nothing but contempt for their time in the service. My grandfather for example fought in WWII, and he spoke against the war literally every day of his life until the day he died.

Why don't you just get it over with. Go on over and spit on the graves of every Veteran that fought and died so your stupid ass can stand up and say the stupid crap you spew without fear of violence against you for saying the shit you say. It's a shame that soldiers have died for your freedom. You are a moron. Go eat some of your government cheese and pop a medical card pill you effin' slug!

I see my point flew right over your head. I should've figured as much. Learn to read, and then come back here.

Those veterans should have never been sent to die in the first place. There is no point in war. Let the masters of war themselves duke it out, not innocent young men and women. If Churchill and FDR wanted Hitler bad enough, then they should have faced him off as men, not sit back and let others do their bidding. Same for Hitler.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, you like to say how intelligent you are but you should realize how dumb you sound. People like you need to get out of this country, and let the ones that are proud to be an American save it. I have had family in every war since the Revolution, including a grandchild that served in Afghanistan, never heard any of them complain. How long do you think it will take before people like you give it away?? Your kind doesn't have the courage to put on a uniform, so you hide behind your brainwashed idiology. I am not going to reply to you again, you are not worth my time. Feel free to go ahead and say what you want, I just want you to know nothing you say will change my mind, and you do not intimidate me in the least.

I'm not dumb enough to "put on a uniform". I'd rather have my country die for me.

Coward? No, I'm simply not an idiot. My life means more to me than that. The concept of countries is a human concept. Like I said, I'd rather have my country die for me. I don't give a sh!t about this country. If it falls, I'll simply go to another one. The US is not the be-all end-all of countries, by the way.

I used to be like you, but then I saw everything the GOP is doing nowadays and realized I couldn't be a part of it. The Republican party is NOT the party it used to be. Look at these links:

"Angry Over Gay Mayor's Election, Florida GOP Leader Wants To Stop College Kids From Voting"

http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2012/1...
"Republicans Want to Reform the Electoral College to Help Themselves"

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2...

The modern GOP doesn't care about you, your opinion, or America at all. All they care about is manipulating people like you into giving them enough power to become like dictators.

You and everyone else who votes in any kind of elections NEEDS to take time out to see what BOTH parties are doing, to look up news from DIFFERENT websites and stations and not just stay with the ones you like. Politics isn't like Football; you can't just pick a favorite team and stick with them for the rest of your life. Parties change as time goes on. If you're blind to that, then you're hurting this country each and every time you vote.

I'm not telling you the Democratic party is perfect, or even all that good, but compared to the alternative? I'll take them any day.

Whaa whaa whaa...put up or shut up you filthy POS. You are just another filthy slug playing follow your leader. You play the victim and hold your hand out and if you don't get your freebies from the government you cry and whine and bitch and moan and stomp your clown feet and claim you will leave this country. You ain't gone yet? Whatcha waiting on? Get some balls and practice what you preach. I heard Cuba and Venezuela are accepting new citizens with open arms. Grab yourself an inner-tube and catch a wave, slug. A person is only as good as their word. You threaten to leave the projects and cancel your welfare check all the time but we all see that you are just full of BS because your timid little ass is still here. Chavez is an understanding guy so please feel free to go and cry about country and treatment and see what that gets ya!

You are just another slug from a long line of slugs that talks a big game but never follows through. The only thing your big talking but never acting on your threats does is make people see you for the punk that you are. You need to be in prison where the other punks will make you a man of your word...the hard way. Bet that would shut your crying up.
