I do know that food lion does not screen a lot of the employees. They have hired a lot of bad eggs in the past. I know my nephew got hired there when he was on meth.

Food Lion just needs to go out of business permanently. Glasgow needs a Kroger or a new Houchens. We need more than Wal-Mart and Food Lion.

Food lion just needs to go out of business ?????? What's wrong with you people..... If you had your way, everyone would be out of business, and then you could gripe about that..........

I would much rather shop at a real grocery store than Walmart!!! They are cleaner, more organized, and you can actually find someone who can help if you need something. Not to mention bagging the groceries. Walmart just puts it in the bag as they scan it regardless of what it is. I don't care to pay more for quality and the price isn't much higher if any. Hurrah FoodLion and Houchens!!

Food Lion nearly got put out of business about 15-20 years ago in a meat scandal, they had to close a number of stores including one in Bowling Green which lasted probably less than a year. The Glasgow store remained open due to the lack of other outlets in our area.

Glasgow was suppose to get a Kroger about 25 years ago, but they backed out and Winn Dixie came in and while it was nice for awhile, they were always too pricey and the whole chain died out. The Food Lion chain has been documented numerous times on national news on keeping unsanitary meat and food on the shelves, there reputation has been in the gutter for the last 20 years. It just goes to show that Glasgow has the leftovers with Food Lion, Houchens, and Wal-Mart as our main grocery stores. I know people that go to Kroger in Bowling Green once a week from here to get there groceries due to the lack of quality stores in Glasgow.

I guess those people you know that go to Kroger once a week must have alot of money to spend seeing that Kroger is alot further than Glasgow. Food Lion is a great store and it would really hurt Glasgow if it closed. I have never had any problems with the workers or the food and I have been shopping there for 20+ years.

We definitly do not need a Kroger here they are waaaayyyy to pricey, and there are also way too many Houchens stores here too. Food Lion is a great store and I hope it stays for another 20+ years!!!!!

I am one of those people that grocery shops at Kroger in Bowling Green. It isn't a matter of how much money you have or don't have, to me it's about the quality of food each store sells. Personally, I believe Kroger has a greater selection and much fresher produce. What I can't buy at the farmer' market, both here and in BG, I will buy at Kroger. I'm already in BG several times a week so it's not like we make a special trip to shop there. Glasgow stores pale in comparison in quality of produce and fresh meats. At times the selections and quality are shameful. Good food should not be a luxury.

I use to live in a city where Kroger was the main grocery. I do agree that they have a wide variety to select from but they are very expensive unless you catch the sales. From what I read on this site, many people in Glasgow are looking for "cheap" rather than quality. If a Kroger ever came here, I would anticipate a thread on here about how high their prices are.
