I could go on for hours about this question!

A good place to get your windows tinted is a place where you are comfortable with the installers and the service doesn't make you want to run away as fast as possible! What you are looking for as far as window tint can be a factor as well. If you want a shade tree tint job, finding an installer should be as easy as calling a buddy and getting a recommendation. If you want a quality install with a guarantee, try the shops in the phone book, just go through them one by one and call each one.

Ask questions like:
1. How long has your installer been tinting?
2. What kind of guarantee does your work have?
3. Can you guarantee a one-piece rear window?
4. Are you using a computer to cut the patterns or will someone cut them by hand so they actually fit?

As far as the actual window tint, there are hundreds of window tint manufacturers and there might be one slightly better than another. What really matters is that you are comfortable with where you take you vehicle and also that you know if something should go wrong, you know you can take it back there for repairs and not get the run around!

Good Luck in your search!!! Let me know how it turns out!

Just FYI...

I am a 23 year experienced window tinter, so I kinda have the right to an opinion on this one. LOL

I will not disclose where I work though, I wouldn't want to upset the balance of the fabulous world of window tint! ;)

Well, I'll probabl;y regret this but I'm going to educate the public about window tint a little more!

There are two types of automotive window tint, vinyl and metalic.

All vinyl window tint will fade, period! If anyone tells you different they are lying to your face! Vinyl window tint is dyed with red, blue and yellow dyes and the sun will cause the yellow to fade out, ta da... PURPLE TINT! Different manufacturers have different times in which this will happen, but it WILL happen!

In metalic film the color comes from the metal and not from a dye. The film has a much greater life on a vehicle and it is the prefered tint of most consumers. However, it is not the favorite of many tint shops! The tint is VERY expensive and the profit margin falls way below what a shop can tollerate to keep the doors open.

To make a long story short! OOPS! Too late for that! Anyway...

Anyone that offers you a lifetime guarantee on a vinyl film is playing the odds that you will not own your car more than three or four years (national averages) and that is why the say the "life of your car". Very few will make the guarantee tranferable and that is the gamble we live with. Next time you run into this extreme offer, by a window tint company, or any company for that matter, have the sense to ask them:

Is that my lifetime, your lifetime, or the lifetime of your business?

Happy Shopping!!!

Got both of my trucks tinted at wwj, the guy they have tinting is a pro, i havent had the first problem with my windows. I gave $90.00 for two windows and a strip. My other truck extended cab cost $125.00 with strip. Cheap price and was worth much much more...

it is not hard to do window tint urself, all u need is a razor blade and a squeege and some soapy water and then just make a template of ur windows and cut the tint just like the template.

thats not really that smart.

one its not that easy. simply because of the back window in a car. if u put it in several peices it looks like crap.
a one peice back glass is a pain in the butt to do.
second if u screw up puting it on. it will cost u more in the long run to get it tinted by a pro. unless u can get all the glue back of the window.

and lastly. its gonna cost u a lil less to do it urself, yes. but the things u have to ask urself is. how long is it goning to take me? am i going to be happy enough with my own work to tell people that i did it?

my advice. go with some one who has a good rep and exsperience. period.
