So there was a bomb threat recently to barren middle school & now another one at Temple Hill as I just received a phone call with a recorded message stating they were evacuating all the students to the church. Why all the sudden are the schools getting bomb threats? Im worried about my children. Is this all happening b/c of the Connecticut shootings? Is this a game to someone? Im seriously thinking of home-schooling. At least I would know my children were safe.

I want to homeschool too. This is not a pleasant experience. I'm worried about my kids and angry that we can't do anything to stop this idiocy!

I hate what happened in Connecticut and feel so terrible for the children, their parents, teachers, family, friends, the whole community. I heard about it that day and that night I held all four of my kids and felt so blessed that I could still hold them. I couldnt imagine the pain a parent could feel and I dont want too. Yet, two bomb threats in a weeks time on two different schools in my county, my city scares me so much that I cant breath. Is it a sign? Maybe that sounds stupid but I look for that kind of thing sometimes. Warnings. I dont ever want to think of my children being in danger. I hate the thought of any child being hurt. These bomb threats need to be taken seriously even if they are fake and simply stupid pranks by ridiculous kids. I do feel like I cant do anything except pull my kids out of school & hope that I can teach them well enough. Do I want to? Absolutely not. Their education is important to me...but so is them living. The message said not to be alarmed...but how am I suppose to feel? These are my kids. My flesh & blood. My purpose. Its scary times we live in now. Very scary.

Between bomb threats and the weekly shootings I hear about, like the one in Alabama where a man got on a school bus shot the driver and took a 6 year old hostage. There needs to be a town meeting with the school and parents. We need to get together and discuss new rules and regulations, and express our concerns. Something has to change. Right now is a good time to come together as a community and discuss our concerns.

There needs to be new safety regulations for bus drivers aswell. Never open the door for a stranger, the children need to be taught to duck and hide in the case of danger.

Completely agree. In my opinion I think people should start doing a whole lot of praying as well. Pray for the one's gone and those of us still here. Pray for our society.

They don't willingly open the doors to strangers, bus doors can easily be pulled open from the outside.

The stupidity on this thread is overwhelming. Bomb threats in schools have been around for decades. It is not because your god has been removed from schools or because parents don't beat their children. Bomb threats are here because someone forgot to study for a test, and a bomb threat is the easiest way to get out of taking it.
I didnt say anything about God being taken out of the schools. I try not to start a religeous or political debate as I know its pointless and everyone has their own opinion on those two subjects.(to each their own) but I did say that people needed to start praying. And Im going to assume only the one's who still believe in God will pray and the others who dont can do whatever they wish. No one is here to make you or anyone else a believer. I started this thread b/c I received a phone call early this morning informing me that yet another bomb threat was called in, and this time to another school. There have been three now right? Red cross, Barren Middle, and Temple Hill. Three in a months time give or take. And you say that its kids trying to get out of tests and b/c parents dont discipline their childre. Well, I for one do. I punish my kids when needed but I don't beat them. Thats what my abusive ex husband use to do to all of us. I took them away from that. I do hope that you are right though. I do PRAY that it continues to be false claims and bogus reports, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I don't want to be called to my kids school telling me that my children are hurt or worse. I'm sorry that you are able to take this matter so lightly. What would you say if your theory is wrong and one of our schools and our children are harmed? Would you sit back then and say "I wonder why somebody didn't do something?" then, you realize, that you are somebody.

What is wrong is that no one has any morals anymore. When you live in a country that totally bans God and his word from schools and other places this is what happens. When your president pushes abortion and gay marriage, this is what is wrong. When a person gets more time in jail for drugs than they do for murder, this is what is wrong!!! When parents are absent from their childrens lives, this is what is wrong!!! Our children watch everything we do, and believe me they will also do what we do. They need God's word and our guidance to know right from wrong.

I agree that the problem is that there are no morals. But I DON'T agree that its because of gay marriage or abortion. That is absolutely ridiculous. How many bomb threats or school shootings do you know of that were caused because of same sex marriage or women's reproductive rights?? As far as marriage goes, and sorry for being so blunt here: But who said it was any of your damn business who a complete stranger falls in love with? As far as God being in schools, children are STILL allowed to pray and worship in any way they want to. But teachers are not allowed to teach about God. I very much believe in God but completely agree that religion should not be taught in a school with children of differing beliefs. Also, my parents never shoved Gods word down my throat, telling me I was free to believe whatever I wanted, and yet I STILL know right from wrong. Funny how that happens, huh?

Abortion

So, I was raped when I was 12. Fuckk u. I had an abortion at 10 weeks. I remember the ultra sound. No heart beat yet, and all you could see was the sac. Thank god my momma took me, and made sure the piece of scum, so called family member is behind bars. Also I remember bomb threats happening even when Bush was president. Our president isn't responsible for evey retarded individual in our community. If these kids were scared of the consequences, maybe things would be different. They should have to spend a week at boot camp, being made to do community service, aswell as house arrest. Teens value their weekends with friends, house arrest would take that away. Maybe boot camp and community service would teach them some values, appatently their patents aren't teaching them any. Bomb threats by a teen at the middle school and high school to get out of class is one thing, but to Elementary schools... that,s going to far. Especially after the school shooting.

I've been home schooling my children now for 3 months and it's hard. I'll be the 1st to admit that there are many times when I am so overwhelmed that I want to scream but then there are times like now when I see and hear all this going on and I am thankful that my children are home and in my care. I am still debating on putting them back in before the school year ends but I'm undecided. And although I agree most definitely with children these days having no morals and misbehaving so terribly anymore, there's really nothing to be done other than to continue to try and teach our own children differently. I see women and men who let their kids run wild at the stores and cuss and act so ugly in public. I start to feel sympathy for these parents then I feel anger that they stand there and ignore the temper tantrum and outraged child when I would be smacking their behind until either my palm was stinging or they were crying. But then what about these people out there who immediately call 911 screaming that they are witnessing a child being beaten in the grocery store?? My husband witnessed this. Saw a lady call up the police because of another parents reaction to something their child done. My husband said it was unbelievable because the kid was being so obnoxious and so out of control that the mother had no choice but to lash out and it didnt even really help. The child continued to taunt and scream and demand. And then this CONCERNED citizen felt it her responsibility to tattle, I call it. So on top of an out of control delinquent now she has a possible child abuse claim against her. What do you do? I can understand and accept not diciplining your children in public but is that not when they decide to act out the most anymore? Just my thoughts on it.

I agree. If I want to disipline my child, and I give a swat on the but after numerous time outs. So be it. Id rather punish my child using a mommas hand of love. Then let my child grow up to be a mean, spoiled, possible deliquent with no common sense.

I agree this Violent Acts must STOP now, I don't have Kids just yet but I am scared for them already. This Nation is going downhill and its happening in our School's. THe bad thing is that the Children who are doing this are getting away with it, why not press charges on the Kids who are doing it and send them to Jail or even Juvy untill there 18. This is a very serious act there choosing, and if they do it they know the differnce between Right and Wrong. I believe that we need to bring GOD back to our School's, bring his Holy Spirit and Guide the Children. Bring the Spanking back to the School's, I'm a firm beliver in Spanking. I was Spanked as a Child and I turned out alright. Please Parents, Start Praying and Guide the Children back to GOD.
