Just heard by rumor that one of the board members son and two others were fired from the bank. Don't know if this is true, just heard a rumor. Anyone know?

Heard there was one from Broadway, and one from Operations Center. Think the other one was Broadway, but not sure. Hate to call names when I am not sure, but ask around and I am sure you can find out. I heard it from another bank, so guess it is getting around town. Probably will not be in the paper because of family connection for one of them. Again, please remember, I do not know this for sure, but came pretty straight.

I was just reading your reply, & was wondering why you said "Probably will not be in the paper"? People are fired all the time, it doesn't make the news.

<quoted text>You are right. Speaking the know truth is one thing, but saying something I am not sure of is something I do not want to do. Yes, I have heard the same thing about the son of a board member and yes I have heard about the funds being the problem, but here again, I was not there. I do have the 3 names I was told, but again I was not there. I do know these people are no longer at the bank and there is a quick they are no longer with the bank. Thank you for not putting me down as is usually done on here, I just want to be sure before saying something about someone that I do not know for sure.
I think you show a lot of character by NOT putting names on here for the stated reasons. Too many people get slandered by idle gossip by people who really don't know. It takes such little to have an incredible negative impact on another person's reputation. Even if they did do something wrong, they must live with it and no doubt will think of it everyday and it could affect the rest of their life plus they have family and it is sad to see what families are put through in these situations. My motto on this subject is: "Those talk don't know and those who know don't talk."

A good motto!
I compliment you on your thoughtfulness.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us lived by this rule!

Well, this week SCB lost another good man who had enough of this bullshit management team that the holding company brought in, give them enough time and this bank can be bought for a song. I guess the Bale`s just don`t care anymore for they have enough to last as long as they live, hopefully.

They don't care anymore...it is very obvious with the management they have brought in.The moral at the Banks is the worse I've ever seen. There is such a turnover it's getting hard for them to hire good people. It would be intersting to know how many accounts and good employees they have lost. When Independence opens their new Bank on Scottsville Road I'm sure they will hurt. They have management that the employees are not afraid saying or doing the wrong thing and they will listen.

I worked at SCB for several years and it was the best place anyone could imagine working. Boom, here comes this new management team and the morale and job security goes straight to hell, wake up Bale family. Its too late to help me but there are still a large group of the older employees working there that deserve a whole lot more appreciation than they are getting. Of course I know this posting will be removed in a couple of days as they cannot stand critism.

As a long time customer, I too agree that the current management inc. J Pedigo and others in that dept. are not interested the the bank's motto to take care of the customer. Mr. Bale would not be happy, he would be saddened to see the way the bank is going down.
There are plenty of banks to compete now, so why not choose another bank, why not move accts. to another bank???
I don't usually engage in these discussions but when I read this one I had to reply. First of all, I too am a long time customer who has dealt with "J. Pedigo and the others in that dept." on many occasions and have been treated with the utmost respect. J. Pedigo goes out of her way to help the customers and take care of their needs.
You obviously must be a disgruntled loan applicant who was probably turned down, if that's the scenario, then please don't take it out on the good people who work at SCB in "that dept."
I have known a lot of those who work "in that dept." for over a decade and their dedication to serving the customer's needs have not faltered, so please don't try to bash these good people just because things obviously didn't go your way.
You are obviously upset over a loan denial or you wouldn't have focused on "that dept.". I personally would rather be turned down if my financial situation didn't meet the criteria for repayment than to be given one and not be able to repay it.
With the economy in it's current situation today I think all banks as well as their customers have had to tighten their belts.
I will remain a customer of SCB and the reason is - because of the above and beyond type of service I have been given by all the employees I have dealt with, and mostly by "that dept." and J. Pedigo.

As one of the three mentioned in the title of this thread, I must say I’m speechless. You people bad mouthing the bank and its employees should be ashamed. I’ve gotten bad service from every restaurant in town but Topix is not the forum to shout out about it. If you truly got bad service from SCB, write a letter to the president. Don’t get on Topix,(which I must add is VERY CLASSY), and tell everyone about it. That’s shallow and makes YOU look bad.

I worked directly under J. Pedigo while I was employed at SCB. She was never anything other than polite to me. Ellen Bale was also always friendly with me; she always spoke to me, and always had a smile on her face when doing so. Not sure what your beef is with them, but as mentioned, YOU ARE ON TOPIX. This is not the forum to project that.

I need to get a couple of things straight here…

1) We were NOT fired from SCB

2) We did not steal, embezzle, or mishandle any money or funds.

South Central Bank was the best place I ever worked. In all my years there I made a lot of friends. I met my wife there (as did one other of the three). And considered all the bank’s co-workers my family. I will miss every one of them with all my heart. The three of us are trying to move on with our lives, and you people on here who bad mouth the bank and its employees make it very hard for us to. Even though I am no longer employed there I still consider the employees my friends and family.

Please people lets drop this.

Let us all get on with our lives.

Was not enough...they should also look getting rid of tellers that let you set in the drive through for ten minutes like they don't see you. I understand being busy and not being able to help a customer right away, but setting there right in front of someone talking on the phone and not letting other employees know that the customer you are facing has not been waited on, is just plain rude!

he said they were not fired. maybe their position was abolished or cut back made for some reason. Everyone that is let go from a business is not "fired" for wrong doing.

Somehow the comments about NOT being fired remind me of someone who was given an opportunity to resign and maybe got a severance package, thus nothing negative to say about the past employer.

I obviously know nothing about this but I am looking in from the outside. I can see someone who was forced to resign giving a positive spin when asked about it. But what motivation would such a person have to come onto an anonymous site like topix and praise a former employer.

We can all choose where we bank. One of the above commented that many are being let go, many are still there, and have been for years that will suffer because of all this. For you to bash one of the above who commented is wrong! You have no idea their circumstances.
