No. How about you? Any plans? My husband died 8 years ago and I don't even have the desire to find another love. He was the best! My daughter and son-in-law include me for dinner on Valentines day. It's nice of them but I wish they would spend the whole day with each other like they are supposed to do. I feel like I am taking away from their fun but they insist. Sweet but I miss my hubby so much. We were married 35 years. He was such a good man. If you are married and have a good man drop everything else and show him how much he means to you today. None of us are promised another Valentines day.

AWW thats so sweet. You are right, we are NEVER promised tomorrow. I think that it's a honor for your daughter to have u over for dinner. If she learned true love then she had to learn it from you by your post. I am sorry that u lost the love of your life but remember u will always have those beautiful and precious memories. While you go to your daughter's to eat just remember looking at her you are looking at him and yourself! Go and have a wonderful time because maybe their valentines day wouldnt be complete without you there also. I dont think its only for those with a husband wife or girlfriend boyfriend but about spending time with the ones that mean the most to you. Have a wonderful day hun!

The sad part about Valentine's Day is I see the poeple who can least afford it spending money on flowers and trinkets. My wife said many years ago to not waste our money on flowers but instead get something we need for the house and maybe dinner. Banks and factories are notorous for these ladies trying to compete with one another on who got the most or biggest bouquet of flowers. They are wearing a quarter caret wedding ring and get a $100 plus gift of flowers which doesn't add up to me? I love the fact that my wife is very reasonable and we could easily afford flowers etc.

I agree.. I am not much of a flower person or candy. My husband got me a card and a single rose and I loved it. The best present I recieved was a homemade card from my three children. Valentines day is over rated to some but for me getting to be with my wonderful husband and three kids is a present enough. A lot of people cant afford flowers but my little boy went out and picked my mothers some clovers or something and she cried. I honestly believe it's more of something coming from the heart not buying something at a store.!!!!

Ya'll do realize that Valentine's Day is a made up holiday for the benefit of business. Most florists make as much money this day than any other 6 months in the year combined. Throw a little advertising and peer pressure in and good times are had by all.

Thank you for a wonderful Valentines Day gift! You made me realize just how important it is to accept my daughter and son-in-laws invitation for Valentines dinner. You are right...my daughter learned how to give in a loving way from her father and myself and that is her gift to us. I wouldn't miss that for the world! Thank you so much.

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family.

Valentines day is just another day or reason people need to show off and feel superior to those less fortunate.for many it may be a day of regret, sorrow or remembrance of someone they loved now gone and people have to put such emphasis on this made up day to feel special.love is not about the material things a lover or spouse can bestow upon someone,if the only way you can show love or try to prove to others how much you're loved by what you receive(1 day a year) just shows how insecure you are and how weak the foundation of your relationship is.there maybe someone in your place of work that just got out of a bad relationship, lost a spouse or is just struggling or searching like many of the rest of the people in the world, then these material people(men and women)flaunt this in front of everyone in nothing more than a shallow and selfish expression of what they call love. FOR ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE LOST A SPOUSE,MY SYMPATHY AND MAY MEMORIES BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE TODAY,FOR THOSE OF YOU SEARCHING,KEEP YOUR CHIN UP AND HEART OPEN BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT LAYS BEHIND THE NEXT DOOR,FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS OR UNDERSTANDS IT AND RELISHES IN THE ATTENTION AND MATERIAL,A PRAYER THAT SOMEDAY YOU WILL PUT ASIDE CHILDISH NOTIONS AND LEARN TO LOVE WITH YOUR HEART AND NOT YOUR POCKETBOOK,SO YOU'LL BE ABLE TO FULLY UNDERSTAND LOVE WHEN YOU CAN EXPERIENCE VALENTINES DAY EVERYDAY OF THE YEAR JUST BY LOOKING INTO YOUR LOVERS EYES.

PEACE,LOVE AND GOOD DAY!

I agree with you to a point but don't rain on everyone's parade. My husband and I both work as professionals and have chosen not to have kids for just the reasoning you are talking about. We have been married over 15 years and both travel with our jobs. We sacrifice a lot just so we can "spoil" each other with vacations and material things. It is never about show but we kid each other about how shallow we are but we chose to live this way. I still Love to look in my Husband's eyes but his eyes never looked better than when we are in the Caribbean. Our hearts are full but hopefully our pocketbooks will always be fuller.

Sometimes, this is a crazy world but through it all I continue to believe that good will defeat evil and that love is the strongest of all. True love lasts forever. That's what makes us who we are. No other reason for being here and what makes people who don't have it keep looking for it. Happy Valentines Day.

It's never made sense to me as a holiday; a day to show your significant other that you care about them. Isn't that supposed to be EVERY day?

Okay old Scrooge. Let's get rid of Birthdays and Mothers Day and Fathers Day and let's not set aside a special day for Christmas because that's how we should spend each day any way and have you ever been tested for the side affects your drug usage has done to your brain? Can you ever remember any time in your life when you weren't completely bitter? No? What a waste and what a shame and how boring!

The part I hate is buying gifts for my wife and my girlfriend. They both expect dinner and I can't be two places at once. My delimma is my wife's family has the money but my girlfriend has the looks and what a body. These holidays screw everything up.

Oh now playa-playa, don't fret! When you are dying a terrible death of AIDS whichever woman sticks by your side is "the one"! You can buy "the one" a few boxes of candy to let her know how grateful you are that she stood by you in your screwing around days and for never getting her the candy before because you always got the chocolates for the other bitch all those years. She will have those memories of 4 boxes of chocolates to remember all the good times with you. She will even be able to call the other woman and brag that she got some chocolates from your old, nasty dying. lying, cheatin' ass so that makes her the winner! Everybody is happy! They will all cry the tears of a mutha f*ckin' clown at your funeral and find a new cowboy to ride for awhile. Giddy-up!

Thanks for your advice but I only go with top shelf bourbon and women so Aids is not a problem. Believe me everybody is Happy now and actually doing quite well as neither of them work. I sure don't look for nor expect any tears at my funeral as I'm sure they won't be able to wipe the SMILE off my face. By the way WE all had a great Valentines Day. The moral to the story is if you can't give your presence, they will always be happy with presents!

You are actually right but why do you guys with money get all the breaks. You get the best liquor and multiple women and everybody is happy since you have money to keep them that way. I'm not jealous but I've watched it for years even back in high school.
