Theres alot of things that I would like to say about this topic. But after all, Washington County Emergency Management and Board of Supervisors could honestly give a shit less about where your tax money goes. As long as Mrs. Harris and Ms. Kingsley are pulling in paychecks, there will still be nothing done. The only comment made by these two are "their incorporated, we cant do or say anything to them, but yet we can still cram tax payers money down their throats". Its sad.

Once again:
-FUEL FOR 5 VEHICLES-$1000
-SPENDING MONEY FOE THE MEMBERS GIVEN FROM THE CREW-$8000
-PAYING MEMBERS TO RUN WHILE THE ELITE ATTEND-$4000
-HOTELS-$3750
-GOD KNOWS WHAT ELSE-$$$$

TAX PAYERS MONEY-$16,750
THANK YOU GSVLSC FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO THE WORLD OF EMS, MAYBE NEXT YEAR YOU CAN WASTE THAT MONEY ON PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WTF IS GOING, RELIABLE EQUIPMENT, TRY SEND SOME OF THOSE 45 EMT'S TO SCHOOL.

So your saying year after year you could care less where your money is being spent... interesting. Maybe you should inquire about the $70,000 the crew was gave this year of tax payers money. If you really dont care about where your money is being spent, well all I can say is it must be nice being on welfare.

I care just tire quickly of whiney people constantly crying over something that takes place every year regardless of how much they don't like it. Hundreds of LSC's will be there as well and as far as I am concerned it's great to see volunteers rewarded! If all you can say is "it must be nice to be on welfare" then you really shouldn't say anything at all, for all you know I may contribute a decent chunk of the LSC's budget. Get over it loser!!!

I think it's fairly easy to see that what little money that the taxpayers put into the rescue squad has nothing to do with the trip to the beach. The 45000 from wash county is used up on insurance and fuel before the beach is even considered. Their beach trip is paid for by the money left over from billing. Whether you agree with the trip or not, it's money they've earned to spend on what they want. It sounds to me like somebody is jealous they don't get to go.

I agree, someone who most likely can't make the squad, for whatever reason, is doing the cowardly thing and trying to create friction, as I said before a wannabe. Besides this ain't just a summer vacation to the beach for them, it is a meeting of multible squads to discuss the newest techniques, equipment, training methods and a whole host of other important issues facing Rescue Squads in today's world. Along with the above mentioned items, it's also understanding and encouraged that those in attendance have a little fun as well.

P.S. The only affiliation I have with the GSLSV is my yearly donation and the fact that someday I may need them and if each member learns one thing on this trip that will increase their chances of making that visit a success, I hope they have a great trip!

As stated, I could give a shit less about the LSC taking a trip to the beach to learn what ever is needed. The point is that if they can afford to take the trip on money from billing, then they do not needed to be funded from the county what so ever. Honestly their fuel and insurance is no where near $70,000, but after the amount of damage they have done to their vehicles in the past year, id believe it.

Give it a rest loser, not one single soul cares what your skewed opinion is. It's clear that you have a personal vandetta against the GSVLSC and I as a tax paying citizen could not care less about your rants. If I have a gripe with how my tax monies are spent, I will express such gripe to the appropiate people...not some whiney-arse loser like yourself. My suggestion is grow-up and grow a pair!!!

I think you should probably check more into the budget. Part of that 70000 is for a paid position. It doesn't take long for insurance and fuel to take up the rest. Sounds like you're going off opinion before obtaining the facts.

The bottom line on this, is they waste all the money from billing. The paid employees get paid, the per-diem members get paid, the rest SHOULD go towards training and education, and decent equipment. By equipment, I mean for an AMBULANCE. Not silly toys. As far as someone being jealous...really? Jealous of Glade Spring Life Saving Crew? I think I just threw up in my mouth.

If you really think they deserve to go to the beach on the money they get from billing, then you're entitle to your opinion. It just happens to be wrong...but hey, what do I know. It's not like I'm a Paramedic with 24+ years EMS experience or anything. Oh, wait. I am.

Darlin', you are truly clueless. Go down to the LSC building, and take a tour, and see where your donation money is going. The LSC pulls in hundreds of thousands of $$$ yearly, from billing, yet they still have a crappy building. Ask them WHY. Ask they why people are LIVING there 24/7. I've been inside the place, and it would not pass a health inspection. I'm pretty sure it's not rated for habitation either, but that's beside the point.

As far as some of us being "wannabe's", I'm a Nationally Registered Paramedic. When you go to the LSC in Glade, ask them how many Paramedics or EMT-Intermediates they have. Their answer is "none". Ask them how many ALS folks they have at all. Their answer will be, "None. But...But...we can give you a haphazard ride to the hospital, and bill you for it later."

The VAVRS Convention has become a joke. There aren't "hundreds of squads" attending. It's the same agencies, with the same members from each agency, each year. It's become a club for senior citizens, pretending to remain active in something. The training they provide isn't worth the time it takes to attend the class, from instructors who were taught by THEIR instructors, who made it up as they went along.

The only benefit of the VAVRS beach trip, is that the little Stanley kids get to have some fun for a change, instead of being stuck inside that building, at Glade Spring Volunteer Life-Taking and Daycare Crew, Inc.

from the procession that went by my house there were not many people in attendance, must have been family members only. Anyway if you freeload like they did who would want to attend. I am not glad that someone died but when you do wrong and do people you have to pay eventialy.

Let me just tell you from the procession that went by my house there wasnt anyone bu family members in attendance at funeral. Beside that if you do wrong and do people wrong you will eventially have to pay. I am not glad that he is dead, but after every thing he put his family and the general public through and al the trouble he caused. Think about it.
