"Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well, I won't do that."

True- the difference is the town didnt know about all the work and chances he was doing, all he had to do was ask. But he didn't and when they told him to stop,he didn't. The Club from Abingdon came in to do the work from the money given to Dunn, the town was working with them and the town knew what was going on. The town had no clue what was happening with the little league. Read the PAPER. It even said the town and the president of the little had a meetting in Nov to talk about writting a work order if there were any repairs. Well... guess who kept making changes?! If you want to help clean up the park or if you want to donate something, that is fine. But you have to ASK.
As far as the kids, the are never any parents with them while at the park. I live right here, so I see what they are doing and have told them to stop repeatively. They will pull themselves onto the top of the basketball goals and swing on them- not the right way to use them. Then they will throw rocks at the press box, sit on top of the fence and spray paint the hardtop.
You have totally missed the point, it's not about the kids coming out to use it- it is about the kids that do use it, make sure they use it correctly. I know when my kids want to go to the basketball court, there is usually something wrong with the nets or rims. Kids are VERY disrespectible.
I have no control over the times the cops work, but the maintance man for the town lives across from me, so he
keeps am eye out as well.
How do you know Mr. Russell did not ask or that a council member didn't tell him to do the work? I think Mr. Cannon was just covering his A$$ until his term was over because he authorized things to be done so he made Mr. Russell the fall guy! Shame on you and the Glade Town Council for not having the respect to stand behind citizens and parents for wanting to make Glade Area Little League better for the kids that play ball there! Maybe you and the maintance man could take over the upkeep for Dunn field!

I'm also curious as to why you and the "maintance(sic) man" have seen what they are doing but haven't done anything to stop it? To me, it seems those eyes that ya'll keep out are useless, and that's part of the problem too!!!
