Glade Spring hosted fireworks this past weekend so that our "police" department could then have a roadcheck and harrass patrons. FINE way to draw people to our town. Next year there probably won't be anyone to watch the fireworks. Looks like the police department is running/ruining our town not the Mayor. Hopefully with a new mayor the slackers will be fired and we can get officers who want to keep the town safe instead of harrassing people. OR atleast some Police with common sense.

Thanks to the Police Dept. for doing all they can do to insure that my family and I are safe when we are on the roads!!! Having to stop at a sobriety check point is a small price to pay for this insurance, so I say keep it up!!!

I too am thankful that the Police Department are doing their job in making sure that people are not driving drunk during celebrations and family night outings. And in that regard I have no complaints against them. Never have.

However, who is in charge of selecting how vehicles are painted for the force? I mean really, you guys pick up a hummer from the military at no cost or next to nothing from The Department of Homosecuity and then you paint it gloss black with white doors. Come on guys, someone would have to be seriously drunk off their ass or stoned out of their mind to not see that thing coming from a mile away. I know you have heard of stealth! That isn't it and a waste of a perfectly good military vehicle.

hummers and police vehicles arent supposed to be used for stealth,,, you want your police vehicle to be seen and noticed,,, a police officers job is to make their presence be known,,, and as far as having a sobriety checkpoint good

I am not going to dispute your word, it just seems to me that every force that can afford one should have at least one stealthy vehicle. And I hope you would agree that the hummer would have made a good choice for that - off road, etc.

And I am sorry, but the new hummer looks more like a float for the parade than a police vehicle.

Remember people, if you have time to whine and complain about something, then you have time to do something about it.

Just last Saturday night,I finished with work and stopped at the marathon to get gas and three (3) GSPD cruisers were sitting there talking! Almost a mile outside town limits,so I pulled to the side and watched! For one (1) hour these jokers sit there and talked! Why does a crummy town like Glade need 3 officers on duty at the same time? Waste of town money, gas, and air!

So you "pulled to the side and watched"...maybe you're the stalking case they been working on, lol! Oh what an exciting life you must lead to sit in this "crummy town" and watch the police force or are you just another wanna-be?
