Tell it like it is Uncle Dan! Isn't there some way to penalize these people without having to employ and pay so many litigators? How much did the Martha Stewart case cost the government? And before anybody starts yelling about how these people did something wrong, the same kind of legal system allows murderers to walk with a slap on the wrist.

Inouye's comments are revealing...this trial is not about whether Steven's accepted gifts. We know that, he's admitted that much. This trial is about whether he knowingly submitted false information to the government as required by law.

The inability of our government to investigate this matter at a reasonable cost is completely separate from the matter at hand: whether or not Steven's knowingly concealed that he received these gifts.

Given the culture of incompetence and greed of our Congress, it is worth every penny to nail these long-time senators to the wall and get them out of those positions so that they can't do any more damage.

President Clinton set the bar. You have to catch these hornets in an outright lie in order to open the door to someone new vying for the opportunity to represent regular, everyday Americans (3 out of 4 of us who are fed up with our government).

Oh, how nice.

Two criminals sticking up for each other.

Next thing you know, Inouye will be hugging a card-board tree, pretending Mufi's rail road job on us is "green" and "good for the aina."

Guilty people back up guilty people. We need to investigate Inouye and all his associates.

Truth is, and we all know it, Stevens and Inouye are both as dirty as they come. People don't say anything because they need the $$$$ these crooks bring. But they are not fooling anyone.

The jury will decide if the prosecution's case is "weak". Just be mindful that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and tenured senators have a lot of power.

Stevens is innocent, Sen. Inouye is a good friend for crossing the aisle and vocalizing what needs to be said, that the prosecution never had a case. The star witness, Bill Allen, admitted that had he provided bills, Stevens would have paid them and that although Stevens repeatedly requested invoices, Allen hid them. Stevens paid 166,000 for the renovations. As someone who has seen this home first hand, I can tell you he got ripped off!!!

Bob, you hit it right on the head! They've been covering for each other's lies for decades and would not recognize anything honorable if it bit them in the arse.

What a pair of sleezy crooks!!

I normally wouldn't agree with Senator Inouye on anything but I must say that Senator Inouye is a good friend to Senator Stevens. You don't abandon your long time friend ... especially since you are innocent until proven guilty.

Let the jury decide but as people already know, even the jury can be wrong as was illustrated by O.J. Simpson's murder trial.

Twisted justice, tainted testimony, questionable accusations, its all about the money. At 84 and worried about reelection? Give it up already! Guilty or not Stevens should just retire already,(and maybe the rest of 80+ year olds on the hill).I guess the money is too good!

Is it any suprise that both Senator Stevens and Governer Palin have been subjected to brutal partisan attacks in Alaska since Palin was added to the ticket? Just a coincidence that these attacks started when the Democrat party started parachuting lawyers in?

It's all a racket to throw the voters off the real issue -- Barack Hussein Obama has no experience, is a socialist, and has a clueless running mate in Joseph Robinette Biden.
