Hopefully they hire people who know what good customer service is and who will keep the store stocked neatly instead of everything thrown everywhere and no one cares!

Kohl's doesn't sell stuff for guys? Or, couldn't the reporter find any guys whose lives revolved around shopping?

SO the net effect to the local economy of Mervyn's leaving is... neutral.

That's not bad!

My thoughts exactly. Way to go Jondi! Let's continue to perpetuate the stereotype that all women wish to shop mindlessly.

Soft opening is to work out any problems that they might have missed prior to grand opening.
Kohl's is great. Glad they are here.

Jondi, you should be ashamed of yourself for perpetrating such a ridiculous stereotype. How can any reader take any of your articles seriously?

Also the article makes people in Capitola look like pathetic, needy folks who go gaga (no, not, Lady) over the opening of a low-end department store.

By the way, there's a Kohl's in Marina. Why drive to Gilroy?

I like having more choices that benefit us locally (and this store will). You can be sure though that I'm not going to let myself get into any debt by buying things I could live without. If there is something I need, I'll check out the flea market first, more exercise that way and gets me up early, too.

The people who shop at stores are also to blame. The merchandise at Mervyns was always in disarray.
Hopefully, the low life types will stay at Ross, K-Mart and Target.

From the article: "Women of all ages, grandmothers to new mothers, are looking forward to Kohl's Department Store opening in the Capitola Mall."

Are the women folk all heading to the new store because the men folk are off making a living so the women can cook the food and put it on the table? MIldly offensive and totally sexist sentence, Sentinel.

I hope KOHLS makes it here. I'll be checking out the new digs tomorrow and hopefully I'll be shopping there regularly! We all miss Mervyns and they were here over 30 years. Kohls' I hope you can match that.

You have nothing to worry about. They won't be selling any Ford, GM or Chrysler products.:->

Finally decent shopping at home. No more trips over the hill for clothes. Khols is a very nice store, upscale from what we have around here, not just ethnic orientated crap like Mervyns. They carry affordable items that are made well. My family has been using their products and we welcome them to the area.

I still don't know what a 'soft' opening is. Can we shop tomorrow?
