Violence continues to escalate and now that it hits so often so close to home we begin to get a taste of life in big cities. Not good tons of unemployed undereducated people do you think this is going to improve?

If you are an honest hardworking American be prepared to defend yourself. What's the average response time to shots fired? Does it matter if you're the target? All the laws and cops in the world can't stop someone from walking up and throwing a cocktail throw your window or shooting at your family!

Ammo is already hard to come by. People are stalking up because this will get much worse. There is an estimated 250,000 gang members in our state. Do you want to defend yourself or wait for police to stop them? Security like control is an illusion.

When I came home from Vietnam in 1970, my outlook was pretty bleak and I was on the road to be coming an armed and dangerous survivalist awaiting the inevitable end of the world.

Thank God I just went surfin' every day, instead. It's been a long 40 years since learning what bombs and bullets are worth at 19 and I understand your concern and ... fear.

Reality is an illusion, Frank. Nobody gets out alive. Relax and enjoy the beautiful life you've been given while it's still in front of you.

You and Charlie Manson. Of course, he was planning on the war between white and black. Don't shoot yourself in the foot, now ...

I am enjoying every minute. Not a surfer but I love being a father and I've pushed away everything that was not to the betterment of my family. I work less but I volunteer at the schools I'm home when the kids are and I'm much happier for it. Sure I don't make as much as I did when I pulled 70 hour weeks; but so many things in life don't cost a thing.

I'm focused on protecting my family. Trying to help others wake up, not join a militia. We should all be prepared and able to protect ourselves too many people assume someone will save them. Times are tough people are desperate you don't know what they will or won't do. Crazy days, bro.

BAHAHAHA! Yeah, you're "stalked" up, alright. You guys got all paranoid and hoarded ammo because "Obama wuz gunna ban it!", then he didn't. The only thing people like you managed to do was create an artificial shortage, raising the price of ammo (and mags and accessories) thus taxing yourselves.

You sound like one of those people that believe "the end is near". Thing is, people have been saying that forever. They said the world was going to end in 1980, then in 1990, then in 2000, then in 2012, etc... Please keep buying up ammo; we need you to spend, spend, spend in this economy!

Actually the run on ammo started pre-Obama. It can be attributed to the horrible state of the economy as much as the paranoia that comes with change in the white house, which has historically caused runs on ammo. We are also in a post hurricane Katrina world where everyone saw just how bad things can get and how slow aid can come in times of need.

No-one mentioned a biblical event to set off the end of the world. Being prepared to defend one's family in case of emergency is not a radical notion. I store food and water in case of earth quake too, wow what an extremist idea. My original point was there is no chance that police could respond in time to thwart and attempt to harm your family. It is our right and duty to be able to respond with force rather than speed dial on a cell phone. Sure the cops may arrest the assailants but that is of little comfort if you have to bury a loved one.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
