Harrington; Is one of the Sierra CLub, Humane Society maniacs that wants to drive farming and ranching out of business in California. Look what the Eco Freaks have done to Ag in Marin County. My family had a 220 cow dairy operation in Pt. Reyes; and my father told my two brothers who were running the dairy with him. Sons we can't compete against the Sierra Club; so we will have to sell the cows and go out of business.

Let me remind you, first the dairy farmers, then the beef and next the oyster farmers. Sounds familiar, Nazi Germany, first the handicap, gays, Jews, Christians. OH my God there is nobody left to produce the food for the people. I guess we will have to become servents of CHina.

Organic eggs already are 6 plus dollars a dozen and I don't mind paying more to treat chickens more humanly and give them better living and working conditions.

More eco-nazi BS! Do the research. Simple fact: If you are an egg rancher, abusing your stock isn't going to make you money. Healthy chickens lay more eggs.

The Humane Society of the United States isn't a "humane society" at all. They are a lobbying PAC for PETA and the Animal Liberation Front, an FBI designated terrorist organization. These are the people who dump blood on people who wear fur coats and bomb university research facilities. The Humane Society of the US operates no animal shelters whatsoever. They have just copyrighted the HSUS name and collect millions in donations from people who don't know the difference. They have an agenda, "animal rights," which extends all the way to NO farm animals, NO pets, "Animals are more important than people."

Two looks good to pass... once again somebody fooled most of the people some of the time. Soon enough, we'll be suffering job losses, millions in lost farm production, eggs from truly abused Mexican (if not Chinese) chickens, salmonella and the rest. Smart move, California suckers.

For all you left-winged, propaganda-believing jerks: Get a clue. Prop 2 is a simple, humane act that gives animals a decent life before they are slaughtered for your consumption. Just because you eventually eat them, is it fair for them to have a lousy life? I think not.

And for the idiot who throws the Marin Humane Society under the bus with the PETA blood-throwing loons, have you ever been inside the MHS? Do you even know what the organization is about? How it's run? How the employees and volunteers do all they can to protect and re-home animals from Marin County and many others? Probably not. You've rather just spout moronic propaganda on websites and continue to live under a rock believing your non truths.

My turn, I want to make sure I understand this. Let them roam free in the sun 6 hours a day, don't forget sun screen, tuck them in at night maybe even a bed time story, get them massage's, state of the art health care, and at 5 o'oclock cover them with gravey and serve it up.???
As for the MHS yes I do have experience with them and it is much easier to adopt a child than cat.
Didn't I read somewhere that we are to rule over the animals of the earth.3450

Yes on Prop 2 - we should be ASHAMED of how we treat our animals that are bred for consumption. If it costs more for the products so be it - there is no honor in doing this to animals. It's disgusting.

You might have read that, but it doesn't mean "abuse over" animals of the earth.

Humane living conditions....humane slaughter.... for all animals we raise for food!

We should be ashamed of ourselves for treating animals the way we do. We need the law and we need it now. Vote yes on 2.

These opponents of proposition 2 are unbeilevable. They can say what they want but I still havent heard their argument as to why it is okay to treat animals like this. A few years ago most people thought going organic would put you out of business. Now that it has caught on it seems to be the opposite. I understand that it will make life more difficult but life in cages that are too small to move around in is difficult too. And the prop gives them til 2015. We all need to get used to eating more rice, potatoes, corn, etc. and less meat. I'm not a vegetarian but I'm voting yes on prop 2.

Your first paragraph sounded like a serious argument from an intelligent person but you lose credibility with your second paragraph.

No, you do the research. This proposition is about battery cages and veal crates. It gives farmers til 2015 so your not gonna see the whole industry die instantly.

Sheesh! Nobody said ANYTHING about the MARIN Humane Society. The initiative was paid for by the Humane Society of the United States. I'm very familiar with the MARIN Humane Society. They are the organization that closed down the Rotary charity circuses in Marin because circuses promote cruelty to animals. Their literature racks are full of PETA-inspired literature, much of it directed at school children. Did you know it is politically incorrect to buy clothing with fur trim on it? The Marin Humane Society can explain this to you. The MHS imports stray dogs from Mexico because Marin doesn't have enough to meet the demand for "rescues" on its own. BTW, I wonder who their next executive director is going to be, since their last one, whose resume included executive positions with the Humane Society of the US, ducked out in the dead of night?

Don't forget to donate the the Marin Humane Society. But before you do, take a look at their plant and then take a look at the New Beginnings homeless shelter down the street at Hamilton. Compare what we are doing for our poor people and what we are doing for our poor animals and ask yourself, "What's wrong with this picture?"

This bill outlaws "battery caged" chickens in EGG production ranches. It has nothing to do with poultry raised for meat. Additionally, California has no veal production industry at all, so the propaganda about "poor little calves in boxes" is just that, propaganda. Neither does California have any significant hog raising industry, so the law won't have any affect on brood boxed sows in the Midwest and South. Keeping egg laying hens in battery cages has long been recognized as completely humane and appropriate by veternary experts. Just because a couple of flake vets back the bill doesn't mean it's "supported by veternarians." Like I said, think about it. People who make their living from animals have no interest in keeping them in conditions that foster disease and death. You can show pictures of animals in horrible conditions all day long, but that doesn't prove that it is the norm in our state.

You vote for this bill and you're a sucker for a bunch of nuts.

I never heard a humane society or homeless shelter referred to as a "plant" before. Wouldn't that make their executive director the "foreman"?
CHINA

I was in China and I saw how they treat hogs. They literally pour the hogs into massive trucks. You see them when you are in and around China. That's right, I said they pour the pigs into the trucks. There are probably 1000 pigs in the back of the truck. They can't move at all. I walked up to one of these. You would think it would loud from screaming but after an hour or so they stop screaming. They are alive. It is quite a sight to see and you can see them because the trucks are open all the way around. When they get to the processing plants the trucks tip the load and pour the pigs onto conveyor belts for processing. I've never seen that but I heard that is pretty wild to see. I would suspect a lot of them are dead already. And then the best part, these pigs end up in cans, are sold in the USA to chinesse restaurants for $.75 cents for a 5 lb can. And that is how chinesse restaurants never go out of business despite no one eating in them. Chinesse restaurants get ALL of their food in cans from China. They pay pennies on the dollar so running a chinesse restaurant costs almost nothing.

Yes on Prop 2. Just go to the website www.yeasonprop2.com And read it for yourself.
It is time we get rid of these out of date cruel farming practices. And treat the LIVING creatures that have no voice and give their lives for us with a bit of dignity. I find it rather scary that their are people running around free in public that are so heartless as to vote no for this measure. It must be because you just do not understand it. Please read and educate yourself . And make an informed decision. If you do not care for animals. Then please think about the food quality that is going into you and your children.Take a look at some of the videos that show the truth about where your food comes from and your minds may open up a bit.

The only people against prop 2 are the truly greedy people who feel it is okay to abuse animals for an increased profit. It is a plain and simple proposition that really is an argument between good and evil.

VOTE YES ON PROP 2!

Prop 2 is a modest measure that will give animals raised for food a little room to move. Are we so morally bankrupt that before we kill and eat these animals we have to deny them the ability to stand up, turn around, lie down and extend their limbs? I think our society can do better than that, and I'm proud to see that most Californians aren't buying the factory farmers' scare tactics. www.YesOnProp2.com .
