I went to high school with Pat. It was clear to me then that he had a huge ego and was not afraid to speak his mind. As I recall what he said was usually and attempt to be clever or to denigrate someone. I was not in his circle of friends but he had a large group of friends and many of them female. At that age many people (men and women) are drawn to peers with big egos and who are outspoken. He did have a problem back them with violence. I remember this incident clearly: I was in class with Pat and another classmate hit him with a rubberband. In response Pat punched the other student in the nose and broke his nose. It was immediatley clear to me then that Pat did not understand boundaries, could not restrain himself, and was not a reasonable person. I WAS NOT SURPRISED TO HEAR HE MURDERED SOMEONE. You can say that something happened on that day or during that time frame and Pat "just snapped" but I believe that it is much deeper than that. He did not become a murderer that night. His distorted and wicked personality developed over many years and his heinous actions that night are only a manifestation of who he really was. I hope the jury sentences him properly. 1,000 life sentences in absolute darkness seems appropriate to me. RIP DANA.

How does he get 35yrs and not life. This is a dangerous person who should never be re-introduced to society. Prison or the looney bin are the only places for such a person. My guess is he'll lose his cool more than once in prison and earn himself some more time.

Should be a life sentence, everyone who knew her is sentenced to a life of sadness. He'll be living the same smug life he's always lived, never taking responsibility for his actions. And any of his friends who are sticking by him and supporting him are sick, you are cowards who need him to be your friend because you are just as messed up as he is. Quit trying to preach that this event is sad for "everybody" if you knew him, you condoned his actions all along so quit acting like your shocked or saddened, you stood by him and went along with years of his ignorant selfish arrogant behavior. 35 years is a joke, during the trial he got to watch sports on tv, have visitors, he is now living on our dime until they give him parole way before 35 years is up.

Well wrote: What happened? He accepted a plea bargain. He pled guilty to 1st degree murder and he was sentenced to 33 years in prison with no chance of parole. Thank God it's over. Now maybe Dana's family can move on.
