Since Buck Harless got this big grant to open dr offices, it would really help the community if he opened a suboxone clinic. Anyone else have an opinion on it.

I think a suboxone clinic is just the thing that Gilbert needs.
There are so many people out there hooked on pills that want help
and can't afford to go to Beckley or Kentucky to get the suboxone.
So yes I definatly think it would be a good idea to put one in
closer to this area.It really does help.

I agree so much. I have been going to a suboxone clinic in beckley for 3mths now. It really helps! Its nuttin like methadone. Its safe and effective. A sub clinic would be great for our area.

If they r gonna do it, I think they should have a suboxone shot they give them, because they just take the pills and trade them, I know, I have seen it done, its like anything else its good if it is used right but if not it can be as bad as anything else...And I think they have a suboxone clinic at 3 mile curve.
Haha

Like that'd help anything. There's so many people already hooked on Suboxone, it'll just give them an easier way of obtaining it, hence increasing the drug problem instead of helping it.

Wondering, is suboxone a drug....LOL
No one ever gets off this stuff. like methadone, a one year program, well it lasts for how many years...LOL A drug is a drug. I do hear it is the best of the 2. suboxone that is, but what is the differecne. what I am wondering is why does it start out to be a one year program, why not 2 mos. but I am told after taking meth twice, you're hooked
been there

if suboxone is taken correctly it will work wonders for an addict. been there myself but i just had to make up my mind to quit and do it cold turkey because i couldn't afford suboxone. Addiction is 95% mental and 5% physical. it's something i'll always have to fight for the rest of my life but i will never make the choice to use ever again. but i would be lying if i said it's not always right there in the back of my mind every minute of every day. like i said it's a choice i make everyday not to use. been clean for over 3 months but the mental part is the part that's so hard to overcome. A suboxone clinic in the gilbert area would be a blessing because there are more people who want to get their lives together than you think. suboxone would help them get their heads clear long enough to realize that they like feeling normal because you don't high on it IF taken correctly. just my opinion

Suboxone works right If you take It the way you were suppose to. But I don't care what you take nothings going to help you If you don't help yourself. My mom was on Suboxone and she traded It for other pills she didn't want help, & she's dead now she overdosed little over a month ago. You can snort Suboxone & get just as messed up as anything else will get you. I've never done drugs & never will, but I've grew up around them & watched what they do to people & myself I don't want any part of that.

Suboxone doesn't make you high. Its an opiate blocker. It only helps you feel normal. Also most clinics are just a six mth program. If you truly want off drugs, suboxone does help. If someome is high while taking suboxones then they have mixed it with some kind of nerve pill. It blocks oxys. Ppl who get suboxone and sell it don't want any help. The one's that does should have the opportunity. Don't knock til you try it.

These ppl go to the suboxone clinics and get the pills and trade them for other kinds of pills or they mix other pills with it to get high, just like they do the methadone. I know this for a fact. I have a daughter that is on drugs and she does this.

That is true. Methodone is synthetic heroin and is very addictive. I watched a program on the medical channel and it said that it is very addictive and one of the most addictive drugs to come off of. I have heard good things about suboxone but the druggies have already found a way to mix it with other drugs and get high as a kite on it 2. So why waste the time and the space in the new clinic for something thats not gonna benefit these people anyway. They are just looking for a closer place to get it.

Suboxone works like I said ONLY If you take It RIGHT. It does NOT block anything If you crush It up & snort It up your nose & I've seen people high like that. They take It & trade It & sell It for other drugs. Like I said earlier If you want help then It will help you but If you don't help yourself It's just another drugs.

I work with addicts and most have been addicted to opiates. They have repeatedly told me that suboxone is abused by addicts very often. As many of you have noted, methadone is much more addictive though. I do also believe that, if used correctly, suboxone can be helpful for an addict who is devoted to his/her recovery. By the way, suboxone can be prescribed by Logan Mingo Mental Health at 3 mile curve, so no need to drive all the way to Beckley. There is another option for someone who is serious about quitting. It is a shot called Vivitrol and can also be administered at 3 mile curve. Someone has to be already detoxed from the opiates. They can then take the Vivitrol shot. It lasts 28-30 days, is not opiate based and blocks any and all effects of opiates if taken. A person could actually die from taking too many opiates after taking this shot, so it is critical they are serious about recovery. Group support is always critical in recovery no matter what if someone is using drug therapy or not.

I go to beckley because they that my insurance and don't have a waiting period. Does the 3 mile curve do that?

If you are already going to Beckley, then I agree that it is best to continue to go. I would take you longer to get into Logan Mingo Mental Health. They do have sliding fees based on one's income and take insurance. For the individuals with whom I work, they usually get an appointment within the month. This may be due to being referred by an organization. I am not sure about the waiting list.

There is also a suboxone "program" at Williamson Treatment Center, better known as the Methadone clinic. I do not know much about their program at all.
I do think that most all programs keep their patients medicated for TOO LONG.

In response to "You Know What", I am not claiming there are good therapists at Logan Mingo. I just know of the Suboxone and Vivitrol programs. In reality, it is very difficult to find a good therapist anywhere, including in this area. I am also not promoting Logan Mingo Mental Health for any reason. Rather, I was just commenting on options. In fact, I have spoken with several counselors there and was not particularly impressed.

Although I am just trying to provide information, I am sure people will have some "choice remarks" about my post. Again, my intention is not to advocate for any program or drug treatement, but to provide information to anyone who needs it and doesn't have easy access to the information.

Thanks alot! I really would like to find a closer place. Going to beckley every week runs into some money and it also gets tiresome. But again thaks for your info.

Not all people are like that, they really do use their suboxone right.
So why knock them out of finding a closer spot. That is not right. Furthermore you can abuse any kind of drug especially from these
new Dr. office's he's got the funds for.Alot of people don't have proper transportation to get even to the 3-mile curve.

All people on suboxone do not abuse them. Plus alot of people do not have transportation, even to 3-mile
curve. I'm just saying there's alot of folks like me
just wanting help. There's things they can do like call in for pill counts, etc.I just don't think it's right to judge all people the same. And the small town of Gilbert and surrounding areas is known to be a big time dope selling place. Why put another Dr.
office in? So they can supply more drugs to keep the
addicts hooked. Think about it.
not true

Done checked and they do not take medicaid or have a sliding fee for the suboxone, check for yourself!
