better watch out my hubby worked at #6 and instead of a layoff for him they fired him to try to help thereselves out, my hubby worked everyday and was never wrote up and done his job and everyone there said he got done very dirty, and thanks to bill browning my hubby is trying to find a new job but he has everyone he worked with including his belt boss backing him up we have a 4 yr. old to raise but I am a firm believer that you reap what you sow and bill browning will.

This is the truth. They didn't say anything about layoffs. I think they are trying to avoid that at all costs - they haven't mentioned that at all as of right now.

I no longer live in the area but hate to hear about layoffs! Where are these mines located? I know a few coalminers that might be effected.

No body is getting laid off. My husband works at 8 and he said that their is no work until Tuesday because someone canceled their coal order and it put them behind schedule. On Tuesday all work will resume. The ones at 3 will be moves to the other mine sites. They new for a while that 3 was getting ready to shut down and not because of the economy either, a few years ago my husband started working there and then they said that there was only a few years left in #3.

Nobody is getting laid off!!! My husband works at 8 and he said the letter said that they would be off until Tuesday then after that work will resume as normal. Someone canceled a coal order and it put them behind a few days, that's it. NO layoffs. Someone always has to get sh*t started and have everyone upset. The ones at 3 knew for a long time that they didn't have much time left in that mine simply because it's mined out not because of the economy.

No honey try to understand ok, read slower this time. Canceling the coal order put them behind. Meaning not behind schedule but that they were not selling a certain amount of coal so for a few days, until Tuesday they will idle. Their doing that to save money. Also they have been talking about cutting out over time for months now. Like I said before other people just love to start stupid $hit and have everyone upset just to see the responses on here.
