the gilbert lions played tolsia yesterday in a scrimmage game and in the 10 play possesions both teams each scored a touchdown. but so far this has been the hardest hittin gilbert team in atleast 10 years. they was literally hammering some heads. so if anybody can come and support the lions in their 2009 football year i promise thier fun to watch.

How about the teams played during 83-84,84-85,85-86, some of the players on those teams where Mike Mounts, Jeff Mounts, Grunt Taylor, Greg Freguson,Andy Toler, Deke Vasey. Some of the best in the state went to finish with the best in Gilbert High with record of 29-1 in regular season games an 6 playoffs games. You never seen hitting until you seen those young men unload on people.

I had the honor to play with those young men . We would have died at that time for Gilbert Pride. I honestly say you just do not see that any more. I would like for football in Gilbert to get back to what it was. In those days of old when we role in we put the fear of God in teams. Live on Gilbert Pride.

Yes I can remember playing at Lowell Phipps stamdium on many Fri. nights and the fans never stop cheering from the time we ran on the field until we left the field. We had show much support then, but what a show we put on for them. I honestly can say the public treated us like we where rock stars. Thanks Gilbert Football Fans for making it such a great place to play ball.

Thank you Purple Knight86! We were absolutely fannatical fans, couldn't wait for the Friday Night Lights!! I was one of those fans. You guys were our royalty...you represented our town...showed the rest of the state that we were the best. The playoff games were sooo awesome. I remember going to the first playoff game against Mannington (at Clarksburg) in fall of '76. Gee, Sistersville, the game at Man (Duval?). Thank you for playing for the Mighty Lions. I will never forget......

It seems that kids have less discipline and an even weaker work ethic today. Children change as the times change, new generation of parents, new technology to occupy them. Oh well, at least we have the memories.
