'Doc' Whitley murder trial: Change of venue granted

A judge granted a change of venue request Wednesday for one of two men charged in connection with the homicide of the long-time chairman of the McDowell County Democratic Party.

Doc Whitley is the victim here and some people seem to have lost sight of this fact.

Let's hope the truth of Doc Whitley's murder comes out in the trial. It's been a long wait for justice and the criminals need to go down. There is no protection for the wicked and these evil people will be punished.

Oh It 's the justice system in WV. This is only going to prove that nobody gets punished in WV for murder. Does anyone remember the story a few years ago about the boys that killed Michael Kissinger and left him in the woods after killing him? Those boys are walking the streets too.

it's really sad that jason lively is the legasey that charles left behind.....sad for jason that he turned out this way...i feel for charle's family and what they must be going through as well as doc's family.....

What is really sad is what Jason and the others did to Doc. Doc employed Jason's mother all those years and look how it turns out. It's a damn shame. Doc dedicated his whole life to this community. I hope everyone involved in his death burn in hell.

i knew doc and the lively's personally...it's a shame and heartbreaking for everyone envolved...especially hurtfull to the families left behind...

doc may have had his faults but he was a good man and dr.he helped many that other dr.'s couldn't. i know from personal experience. God have mercy upon him.

You don't know what the hell you are talking about. Any misuse of drugs that went on in the Whitley Clinic went on behind Doc's back. He was a excellent doctor and helped out many in the town of Iaeger. He was a helpless man in a wheelchair, who cared about life and people, who was murdered in his own home. He didn't deserve to die.

"charles legacy"...i was being sarcastic about that...jason pretty much raised himself....he took all his life lessons from his dad...i was saying.."look what you created and left behind charles"....i tried to have a positive affect on jason's life when he was very young but it was already to late even then....i just feel sorry for charles's mother....she has lost 3 son's and now all this heartache with jason...she is a wonderful woman and dosen't deserve all the heartache...

The trial for Lively is going to be held in Putnam County on July 26th .At least counts 1 and 2 ..Grand larceny and Burglary charges are going to be heard at that time. The murder charges may be put off until a later date.

i just read that tommy owens was due for court thursday,but was unable to get there due to transportation problems..ha ha,what and the world could of been the problem,was there a shortage of gas or police cruisers, or could it of been that the state of w.v. just not think it was inportant enough to get him to his own trial? i mean really its not like his trial was in a different venue or anything,how in the world will they ever get jason to his trial??

THIS IS THE ONLY STATE I KNOW OF THAT WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING A MURDERER TO TRIAL.

Paul, I appreciate your comments. He was a good man. I miss him so much. I will let you know what happened because I will be there.
