What's the difference?!

I totally agree with marissa. The driver is NOT allowed, NOR expected, to play the role of police in any situation unless he is in danger. Can anyone explain to me what danger could that girl ever pose to that whale-sized bus driver???

What an ignorant observation. The only adult on the bus, the only supervision,(by virtue of the fact that you consider HER to be a large woman) is to put up with disrespect, blatant disregard for the rules, and physical attacks, as long as YOU don't think she is in any danger? I don't know who this marissa is you agree with, but maybe the two of you would like to go visit Samantha, the mouthy, white-trash drama queen, after she is incarcerated and let her know how much you support her actions. |

I have a 10, 8, 7 and 6 year old.. And I expect.. No I DEMAND that they show anyone and everyone the same respect I show people. I don't care if the other person is a toddler or a 90 year old.. My children will treat others with respect or fear coming home. Expect any less and you get just that.. Less. Your 15 year olds shouldn't have any less expectations then my 6 year old. |

No one is denying that the girl is at fault for not sitting down in the first place. We've also established that the girl feels entitled to a red carpet and silver spoons because of her obvious disrespect for authority but, the fact still remains that the bus driver is an ADULT. The girl did not put her hands on the driver the BUS DRIVER did. The CHILD was all talk, yelling and things, in the beginning. She had no intention of doing anything. She was obviously aware of do;s and don't such as not cursing or hitting the driver because when she would slip up and say a curse word she would correct herself and when the driver would grab her she would hold her hands up in plain sight. THe driver did most of the shoving and pushing. In my opinion the ADULT DRIVER should have told the girl to take her seat and then told the rest of the students that if they wanted to go home then she and everyone else would have to calm down and sit down otherwise the bus cannot move as it is protocol. The other children did not join in because they obviously wanted to go home because they thought the situation was just as stupid. Samantha is a child and behaved like one. You do not give childish things nor do you give childish actions such as tantrums the attention they seek otherwise the situation escalates and thats exactly what the bus-driver did, gave her attention. The bus driver and her daughter should be punished also because they were the instigators of the physical parts of the altercation. Both f them were the one ones doing all of the hair pulling, pushing, shoving, and hitting. They should not skate by and let the other child rot because they enabled her.

As for your comment that they aren't allowed to drop off any students unless it's specifically stated in the route -- true, BUT they can if they have parent permission, which is EXACTLY what the student was trying to get. the bus driver does have the right to tell her to get back in her seat but since when does any adult have the right to beat up a child? especially when the child had not done anything physically harmful to the adult. granted samantha should have just sat down and let it go. it is still the fault of the driver and the girl should not be the one being punished for simply trying to avoid conflict (by getting of the bus after being told she was a distraction) and defending herself (when the bus driver started hitting her and pulling her hair). note, however, that NEITHER are faultless. like i already said, the girl should have just sat down. it couldve been easily solved. but then again, if the driver had just been the adult in the situation and talked to the mother on the phone, this couldve been easily solved as well. |
